Guess I should have said the chicks were standing up getting a nice, long feed. The other one will have to come out of the egg to get a nice long feed! :laugh2

6/7 update from the website..
    - The chicks have taken their first flights earlier than expected! Fledging usually starts at six weeks old but the chicks have taken their first flights from the box at just five weeks old. On Thursday, June 6, one of the chicks was not in the nest box. Later that day, two of the youngsters were observed flying and one was still on the ledge outside the nest box. By the end of the day on Thursday we have reports that all three youngsters are flying.

Occasionally the chicks will make it all the way down to the ground and land safely but are not skilled enough to make it up to a higher location from the ground. If this happens the young peregrines may need help to make it to a higher location so it is fortunate that they have not come to the ground for their first landing. The young peregrines need close observation in downtown Dayton during fledging and will be monitored over the weekend.

Now that the youngsters have taken their first flights the nest box may appear empty until they can increase their flying skills and return to the nest box as a safe location while they practice hunting with their parents.
