Hi sbwatcher - Im surprised, too, that there was only one hatch. But at least the one we have seems healthy, and happy in a falcon kind of way... Im looking forward to watching Clementine, or Clem... successfully fledge in the coming weeks. :girlluv:

Thanks so much for the links, sbwatcher...

And even though I certainly know how you feel, I do agree with Carly and Tsusan...don't be bummed...we have quite a few 1 chick nests this year. I'm just thankful we have one very cute chick here!!!

AWWW - I caught mama feeding the little guy. Cam froze, but came on shortly, and mom had hopped up on the "rail" thing on the ledge, and baby had followed her over in that direction. WOW what a crop he has! Mom is preening a bit, picking at her toes, and it looks like baby will retire to the corner for a little snooze... :girlluv:

Ground report: A falcon perched on top of the nest box around 4:45 this afternoon. Looked well-fed. Good weather for hanging out and probably resting from a successful hunt.

Cam report: It's 1:30 and someone has insomnia.

( Uh, sbwatcher, no one here wants to read about your sleeping problems. )

I didn't mean ME, I meant the parent falcon who is right now perched on the ledge and staring out over the city ! It is 47 degrees let's hope this baby gets used to the :cold: with no parent on top of him. But seriously, I'm sure the chick is fine, this weather is so much warmer than Canada.

I found little one in the right near corner of the nest box. I thought she was playing with something, as its head was bobbing around. Then an adult head appeared in the same corner. I guess it was lunch time. Mom (I think) hopped out, and little one was looking around, with a bit of lunch still on her beak... :girlyes:

Hehe, cute report, Tsusan. :cheer And great catch , marineof2 ! :cheer I haven't had any time to go bird watch this week, but I have seen falcons perched at various times on the building as I pass through downtown. They are there during late afternoon and early evening more frequently than they were. Theory: Now that they know they are only providing for one chick, maybe they are less concerned about overhunting the downtown area.

One of my neighbors complained last month that the peregrines were reducing our songbird population in the neighborhood because all the birds go into hiding. I suppose that this is possible, but I would be more inclined to blame the local hawks which are far more numerous than the peregrines.

Hi - Just wondering... I went to the cam at 9:30, expecting the infa red to be on, but it was quite light on the cam. Skies even had a bit of blue in them. Is your sunset that late, or is the cam stuck? Also - couldn't see baby...

This is what I get at 9:49. I was out at about 9:30 and it was not dark, but not daylight either. I am just a bit south of South Bend in Indianapolis. While it is true that in the summer months the more northern parallels have more daylight than those more southernly, I wouldn't think that we would be that different from here to there.

Sky looks almost the same now, but she is moving her head around.

By that time we are just starting to get dark here. The camera seems to have issues when its just starting to get dark. It seems like it flips back and forth for a bit, then settles into infared is what I've noticed. The baby is starting to get it's flying feathers! I noticed last week but didn't get a chance to capture them. (flying feathers is just my term lol) You can see them at the ends of the wings
