I love the way VieVie feeds the kids. She seems so gentle...

Caught part of a feed...For the longest time, only one chick was up and eating..

Finally, #2 gets up and joins in..

The biggest chick has been going-it-alone sometimes. Beleef site has a clip 29Th at 18:17 that shows the chick eating whats left of a pigeon's leg including the ring.!!! Do you think it will do any harm ?
In any case it seems a very bad idea. :nervous:

Anyone know please ?

From the video, it is clear the chick ate the whole foot + ring + probably 1/4 end of leg bone. I don't know if chicks this young produce pellets like adults do. I was hoping that if the ring irritates the crop, maybe it will be expelled?

Right now, 3:25AM local time, VieVie is sleeping in the box with the 2 eyasses.

Carly & mwplay The chick seems to be going very well. Ma falcon keeps telling it to stay quiet (with a peck or two :girlcrazy:

)
This evening Pa brought another pigeon and it has a green ring on but it looks like plastic this one. It hadn't been eaten yet as far as I can make out from all the bits strewn arund the nest,no sure though. Important thing is chick No 1 is not suffering today. :ohyes:

But Vievie brought 3 big pigeons also, she remains a good mum! :girlyes:

Pa was able to feed his chicks once yesterday morning. Normally he isn't allowed to by Vievie.
But however, he brought many preys for his chicks, the whole day through.

Kids alone, flapping wings. Big one eating his second pigeonleg. Two days ago it ate one including the band!

Remember S2 , the year she came after chicks were born. We thought she would smother them. they were too big to be brooded , but she insisted anyway
