A food drop was brought in as SGb noted and then at 7:45am Chase came in with food. Green was already eating from previous drop so chase beak fed Blue for a few minutes and then left and blue continued to self feed.

I do not know how the flights will go , or where Chase will take them but I do know Chase has done a good job this year. RAdisson is teaching him well and he is stepping up to the plate

Chase has come a long way for sure. He's pretty brave for even attempting to feed the girls in the box at this stage of development.

I pray they have successful fledges.

Well the day was uneventful up till 5pm.

they are starting to wean him, so any time now.
He goes into box and eats girls leftovers.

And now . Drum roll

At 6:40am this morning Black band male had first flight. My God ,Peter said it was amazing .
and knowing where he went , it was.

He flew right over to balconies of Windsor apartments, and around University extension building and then up to College plaza ( 6 ledges down on north face.). Peter said best flight by far of any we have ever watched.
will try and post picture of area again, if time later tonight.

I am sorry to have missed it , but at same time I would have had to wear Depends

We have been watching Chase and R flying in front o f nest box and then gliding over to college plaza and been just sweating ,as usually they sit across at Maz and kids go there. We thought , they will not make it that far. What are you thinking guys.

Peter was there till 10pm and he was sweating it as R was doing flybys with food . Black male had not had his own meal yesterday. He had to keep going in box and eat girls leftovers.
So he knew our guy would fly this morning.

I am getting ready to go down and Peter will sleep in car.

It was wonderful to see Black's first flight this morning, along with Peter and Jim. I can no longer gripe that nothing happens when I'm watching.

I have black band at home.
had to rescue him from road yesterday. He was grazed by a car and I ran out and grabbed him, not thinking of all the traffic I think he is O.K. but Gord will check him in morning.
He had a few small flights in area of college plaza yesterday and did well/

Idiots in college Plaza kept knocking on windows and taking flash picutres of him. I went of admin twice and a long story is ,they are all idiots.

he few about 5 pm after a food drop at noon . We knew he was not going to clear maz, he grazed off front and flew around back but out an d low.
Peter and I went looking and we looked and looked . He was not on ground , so good.

When we got back to roof Bob and Carol were there and he said Chase had been circling maz and clinical area with food, so I went back down and decided to watch Chase. I stood down and to right at side of Maz , from where Chase was.

Low and behold out flew Black , very low, from back of Maz. He could not get much height as no where to swoop. He tried to make low building across busy street but could not and came into tree by it and down to sidewalk. busiest time.
So off he went down alley. I tried, to corner him but he turned and went back down alley towards street, (he was trotting down) Poor guy, must have been scared, Trying to get a hold o f hubby,but his cell , for some reason was not working.

And then he did dreaded thing, he flew so low to ground across street, but did not quite make it and was hit, but I do not think hard. I ran out and retrieve d him and Pete came with box. I was so mad at myself , that I could not get him before he went across. But so many people, and believe me , just becasue they are at university does not give them smarts Please stand back , should mean that , but ...

anyhow , phoned Gord and he said he was in meetings with ministry department quite a bit away ( but to take him home and keep him cool and in dark and he would come early morning to check him. I hope I made right call and that he has no injuries that are serious.
I will say, he melted my heart.
I did feel for Chase and R ,as they knew right where he was an d where he flew low and were looking for him. I wish they could understand me , when I told them , he was fine and I would bring him back.

Girls do not look ready to go anywhere and parents are trying to get them out of box

I am praying he is alright.

you know, I never thought of the cars at the time. and there were a lot, but when I go t home , I said my prayers.

I felt I had failed Black band because I had not been able to corner him by myself, and so I could not let him get killed that way.

Very nervous for our girl as we head into the weekend and next week

Bev, you did your best and rescued him in the end. He'd probably be dead right now if not for you. I'm glad YOU weren't hit by a car. I sure hope that he checks out ok, but how cool to have a falcon in your home.
Watching the girls, and they seem lazy and content to stay where they are for now.

I was out at the site early with Bev and Peter and Rosemary. The parents are still looking for him. Radisson has finally given food to the girls, yesterday morning was their last meal. Ravens again are getting on Radissons` nerves, so off she flies to show them who`s area it is. They had a intruder again last night, but only Chase showed it out, Radisson stayed on her perch at the College Plaza. Bev and Peter is waiting for Gord. I hope black can get put back on the roof without going to rehab. That is all for now.


Not many people can say, that they had peregrine for a overnight guest.
