Something has got to be wrong with the shell....even if the eggs are infertile, it takes some of these eggs forever to collapse and fall apart...heck, Most of the eggs at San Francisco NEVER fell apart...

It almost looks as if there is a hatch in progress. Swift is restless and looking under her belly a lot. :hmmmm

She really is acting like there is a hatch in progress...I suppose if this is the first egg and if incubation started right after it was laid, then I suppose it could be a hatch...

Scott posted on the blog that they are aware of the crack and may try to retrieve whatever they can to test for toxins!!!

I was afraid this would happen when the other 2 eggs cracked. :girlsad3: If the egg isn't any good though, why is Swift still incubating? Maybe the crack is part of a hatch--I hope anyway providing it doesn't prevent hatching. :nervous:

She was just scooching around so she apparently believes there is a live chick in the egg & its trying to hatch. This is going to be a nerve-wracking evening. :girlcrazy:

Unfortunately, I don't remember if she started incubating right away, Carly. DEF figured that hatching could begin around Oct. 5. Its Oct. 2nd there now, so we're close.

I just went back & looked at the posts around when the first egg was laid & she was incubating BEFORE the first egg was laid. It was difficult to tell whether there was an egg or not since she was always laying down! In other words, yes, she started incubating right away.

I'm trying to think positive as well. Unfortunately, the cam froze on me & I refreshed & can't get back in.

I've tried half a dozen times with no luck. Can't even get the ledge cam. I think I'll try re-starting my computer & see if that helps (can't hurt).

So what's happening, still parent on the egg?

Edit: During the time it took me to post, I got the cam back.
