thanks Tsusan for researching her beak....I wonder if one of the girls clamped down on it during a prey exchange!!! Poor Eve and her beak/jaw/mouth...she just can't get a break!! (poor choice of words..)

Those sure a beautiful pictures of Eve!

I wonder if that spot on her beak is from the beak injury she had when she first showed up at this nest. Her beak was such a mess then that I don't think we could really see the beak for the food all over it. She's come a long way & was able to feed her girls. Another falcon we learned about healing from. :eggthumbup:

I'm glad you got some close ups of Eve today. I spooked her, sorry. One of the kids was blocking the cam later too. Great shots from Friday. These two are never going to leave!

Hopefully, this is gonna make sense...and I apologize in advance for the large amount of pics (where's the slideshow feature in PB!!!) Some aren't great because I couldn't get them in focus well.

Food Chaos

When I opened the cam, I found a flurry of wings and the girls bopping around the platform. By the time I got the recorder on the cam, I caught Bertha coming toward the cam, screaming

this is when I discovered that Sis (55) had food

Bertha headed to the top

Sis

Bertha hopped down and sized up the competition. (Sis was able to eat a few bites)

Bertha goes in for the steal...I'm not sure who ended up with it-yet

They both move out to the platform

Bertha was victorious...Sis lost brunch

Bertha returns to the control panel and starts to eat

Bertha moves to the box to finish eating

Sis moves into position and Bertha isn't happy

Sis makes her move

(food fight~really hard to see-went on for several refreshes)

Bertha retains possession and moves out of the box to finish

Sis keeps watch but stays away

Bertha has her fill and moves to the box

Sis heads over and finds very little left

Meanwhile, Bertha is in the box (igloo) resting...but, Sis moves over and Bertha comes out

Bertha returns to the box and plops down...Sis out on the corner..

As I left, Sis was out of cam view (she had been way over to the right) and Bertha was starting to doze in the box...(I really couldn't get these focused well)

well, I set the recorder on the cam and walked away....but this is what I found..

Sure wish I had been watching...I bet it was another food fight. What I find so funny is that I don't think either of them realized there was food in the igloo... not until one had an aha moment...found it and walked out with it. There is no telling what happened after that.

Oh Boy, I guess they aren't leaving anytime soon. Eve and Mitchell could really use a little bonding time at the homestead. They must know how to hunt on their own by now. Birds are migrating south by the millions and stopping off on the eastern shore. It really doesn't get any easier for a falcon.

The 21st Century juvie......living with mom and dad...

The first series of pics are of 55....who was lounging when I checked the cam

Then somebody else landed (I only saw a wing)...and I assume a parent, based on her behavior

Instead of running out, she scurried back into the box...then came out yelling

Something caught her attention, and she moved out

Came back and hung out for a bit..

Moved to the other side..

After a few minutes, Eve arrived.

She didn't have much alone time because one of the girls arrived and Eve got out of there..

I never got to look at the bands so I don't know if this is 55 or 56..but, she became fascinated with the egrets (?)

She was gone after this pic..in hot pursuit? Who knows..
