I've been wondering why she doesn't just go inside to get out of the wind, but she must be afraid of getting trapped in there. Guess wherever she's from is out in the open...

Were you watching the cam just now, Carly? She was going through the same motions that SGB caught earlier & there is no one in the igloo right now. She was just trying to keep her balance.

Thanks for the status up til dark there, Beth! I find it odd that she stays at the entrance & gets blown around rather than going inside out of the weather, but she must not feel comfortable doing that. At least she has protection from one side from the wind where she's standing.

Interesting that you got a capture of Eve in the igloo at first light. I guess they must stay in the igloo or somewhere on the platform at night since there aren't a lot of options for night perches on Cobb.

Thanks for keeping up the coverage everyone..I had to leave and am just now getting home...I did ponder in one of my earlier posts if if this "stranger" was Eve's mom/sibling/aunt/grand ma ma or whatever...Maybe Barb will know if Eve's parents are banded..

At first I thought it could be one of the "Cobb Cuties" that used to nest here but moved to another part of the island...but, then I saw NO bands...both of the Cobb cuties are banded.

I'm just glad there was no aggression....Needless to say, it was interesting to watch...Hope there's not a repeat tomorrow...I won't have much cam time!!

Its barely light at Cobb & the cam is focused on the inside of the igloo. I don't see anybody there.

Eve is from nearby Mockhorn Island. I'm almost certain that they have an igloo there too, and I will have to check and see if they are banded, but I assume they stay around their igloo too.

The peregrine migration down the eastern shore gets funneled into a very small area around Cobb. The hawk watch in nearby Kiptopeke has been reporting something like 50-100 a day. The peak migration lasts about 3 weeks for falcons, and we are smack in the middle of it. The storm has been very rough with 35 to 40 winds and heavy rain, as you have seen. With almost no shelter on these islands, it is no surprise that birds are stopping over and the local birds are not being territorial. The birds will pretty much be grounded until the weather clears.

Cam is back...still a very gloomy day...

I don't know for sure who this is, but I'm leaning toward Eve..

I saw that too, SGB- Eve seemed immersed in watchful preening, and all the sudden she pulled back, braced her wings as if someone were coming, and left! Now what!?
