Sightings of Zeus, both times on the Tower Building after dark:

Monday Jan 27 Zeus was seen perched in a window about 6:50 p.m. just minutes before South Bend's driving ban (due to weather) took place. He had eyes open and was facing the street rather than huddled toward the window, definitely looking outward towards the world in general. At that point, perhaps he knew that Guinevere was not coming back.

Last night Feb 2, Zeus was again in a Tower window, it was later at night and he looked to be sleeping. For all I know he could be there every night, I don't always get to go and look.

The street where Guinevere was found is not really far from Rum Village Park, the place where Zephyr's remains will be. 160 acres of unspoiled woodlands, I've walked many a trail there. I like to think that she and Zephyr (and maybe Zeus also) enjoyed time there over the years. It's less than three miles from downtown South Bend as the falcon flies, and is certainly the closest extensive woods.

Thank you all so much for caring about our special falcons. ........

Thank you sbwatcher!
Good to read that Zeus is still around. Now let's hope a pretty lady finds her way to this location and likes what he has to offer.

And what he has to offer is youthful energy and spiritedness. He has always struck me as a plucky young bird and not easily discouraged. It is sad to lose Guinevere, but maybe Zeus knows in his little bird bones that someone else may be just around the corner. That is, when it warms up just a little bit.

Zeus sightings: yesterday night and tonight on the Tower building, in the 20 degree weather, which actually feels a bit warm considering the bitter cold we have had.

:girlyes: I absolutely agree, sbwatcher! I will always remember Guinevere, but I do look forward to spring, and a new female coming to make its home in South Bend.

Oh my goodness, with so much attention to falcons, I forgot all about the nest box and cam !! How very cool,

a shot of a :5snowflake: thanks for those sharp eyes Matrix !!

I am pleased to report a DAYTIME sighting of a falcon (Zeus, I assume) perched atop the County City Building at 5:43 pm today !! It was sitting on the special spot on the NE corner where I have frequently seen Zeus perch, so I'm guessing that it's him. (He may have been around in the daytimes, but I have been working indoors for a while now, so it was nice to see him on my day off. ) :-)

Glad to hear you spotted Zeus! :6snowflake:

Somebird has been stomping around in the snow on the ledge...When the clouds cover the sun.... the shadow reveals the collapsed snow on the ledge....

That actually could be snow melting off the top of the box- it lines up with the edge of the top. We actually got some sun today (although not much in the way of 'warm' temps to melt it off today- but we did a little last week :) But it could be little birdy feet prints!

Falcon sightings: Last Friday I spotted someone hunting as I was driving through downtown. And Sunday I saw a bird perched on the County City Building around 5:45 p.m. Not much movement today, I hope that meant a full and satisfired bird.
