Oh my, how strange to see a Barn Owl in the falcon box! What is that rope thingey? I guess turnabout is fair play cause at Oak Creek in Wisconsin there is a falcon looking like its trying to take over a Great Horned Owl nest!

I don't know what that is!..I noticed it too ...looks like a wire to me...

Actually, at WE...the GHO took over the Falcon nest several years ago...that's why they put up the second Oak Creek box...hoping to placate the falcons...which kinda worked---a little...

Betcha that whoever is manning the cam saw that owl & repositioned the cam viewer to see the owl. I don't think I've seen the cam pointed in that corner before & that's probably why I didn't notice the rope before.

That wire has been hanging loose there for a month or so. Great Horned owls are a big predator of falcons. I wouldn't think barn owls are, and we don't have many here either. I wonder if barn owls would nest in these igloos? There are many run down barns on the eastern shore, so probably more nesting choices. It is very interesting though.
