Just watched those videos. I didn't see Niecey chewing on the wood this morning, but was watching the cam when all the things with Lil Dad were going on. That's why I didn't get everything done here today, and now why the dinner dishes are still in the sink. :-)

NIECEY IS IN THE SCRAPE THIS MORNING WITH ALL THE KIDS TUCKED UNDER HER. THEY ARE ACTIVE THOUGH. FINALLY, THE EGG IS PUSHED TO THE SIDE AND NOT UNDER THERE WITH THE CHICKS.

I think she was trying, but had trouble getting her one leg somewhere other than on a chick. I would guess the parents' legs would get kind of stiff after brooding for hours.

Thought I heard Lil Dad at the end of the ledge a bit ago. Niecey left the chicks, and her wailing could be heard for a bit, but now don't hear either of them. The Flickers and Red-bellies in my area have been advised not to get any closer to downtown than here. :-)

And while typing this Niecey appeared in the scrape, and is now up on the shield.

IT JUST MAKES ME SMILE TO WATCH A FEEDING EVERYTIME............THE GENTLENESS OF NIECEY IS JUST SO SWEET! AND THE KIDS SEEM TO LOOK AT NIECEY WITH LOVE :-)

COMING BACK FROM LUNCH, I GOT TO SEE NIECEY FLYING AROUND OUT FRONT OF THE BLDG AND THE UNIVERSITY, JUST CIRCLING AROUND, ENJOYING THE WINDS AND STILL BEING ABLE TO KEEP AN EYE ON THE LEDGE. LOOKED UP HIGHER AND SAW LIL DAD UP ALOT HIGHER. NOW IT'S ABOUT 15-20 MINS LATER AND I CAN HEAR BOTH ARE THERE ON THE LEDGE SOMEWHERE. NIECEY WHINING ABOUT SOMETHING AND THERE WAS SOME DISCUSSION BACK AND FORTH AND NOW NIECEY IS IN THE SCRAPE WITH FOOD..

ALSO WANTED TO MENTION THAT I SAW MY FIRST BALTIMORE ORIOLE OF THE SEASON OVER ON CITY ISLAND TOO. HOPEFULLY LIL DAD WON'T BE BRINGING THEM IN AGAIN FOR THE KIDS THIS YEAR.
