Bird Cams Around the World

Well, that was Lil Dad on the shield watching, but didn't know he was big enough to bring in a Pigeon. The girls managed to eat some of that thing, but most of it was left lying behind the orange post. Lil Dad snuck over to that pigeon and escaped with his life when the girls mobbed him. I think he took the Pigeon with him, as I don't see it anywhere now.

I have just learned that ALL of Red Girl's kids in Wilmington have fledged. A friend who is down there helping to watch called me to tell me about seeing one of the boys fledge, and while we were talking the remaining girl took off with a safe landing on a building next to the nest building. Red Girl's kids are about five days older than Harrisburg's.

Whew!!! There for a second I thought the one flapping fell off the point. Parent was there then when the picture came back there was only one on the point. Next picture showed one where the parent was. All three accounted for.

Sitting here in the air conditioned comfort watching those three girls at the end of the ledge. It is unbelievable that this is most likely the last night I'll be watching from the computer, as tomorrow evening the volunteer watches begin.

I KNOW THERE ARE SOME OF YOU READING THIS WHO ARE LOCAL. WE COULD USE AS MUCH EXTRA HELP AS POSSIBLE ON EVENINGS AND AT ANY TIME OVER THE WEEKEND. PLEASE CONSIDER COMING TO HELP.

When I tuned in a few moments ago, White was over at the column. She has since returned to the ledge part of the stick to join Blue, I think. Haven't seen Red yet, and hope she's hiding behind the scrape.

Just saw Red's head move by the stick in front of the other two. On the right hand side.

Parent must be close, all 3 yelling. If you listen to them there are 3 different sounds. Red just isn't getting up yet.

Red up in sight now.

Got nervous only seeing two this morning. Glad to read the three are there. Good luck with Fledge Watch. Always a down time after they fledge. How connected we become to these Beauties! Always nice to hear in future days about where one or more have set up their territory. The Necessity of Banding!

I missed seeing it delivered, but a whole pigeon has arrived right by the scrape. Two of the girls are working on it. And could see the shadow of an adult flying up to the cam.

3 girls on the ledge, 2 by the orange post and 1 in the scrape. Just saw a parent land on the point and what looked like somebody else run to the point to take prey maybe. I thought it was one of the girls at first before I saw the 3rd girl in the scrape. Of course the cam wasn't on the point at the time. Everybody settled back down.

You know I was just thinking, we haven't seen them go around the column like they usually do. They go around it before they fledge right? Maybe not. Also nobody on the stick (for real) either. So they are not ready to go yet. (famous last words)

Thanks Jane for you dedication to these birds. And of course, Reenie, Sue, Nancy and everybody else involved year after year.

I highly recommend that anybody who can go and help with fledge watch, do so. I was up there one year and got to participate and was rewarded with the most beautiful sight of White Boy fledging. I didn't know that I could hold my breath that long as he flew here and there trying to figure out what to do next. The experienced team will handle the actual rescue if one is needed, mostly it's eyes and feet they need to keep track of where the babies are. I just held a sign to slow down traffic. Added advantage of being around the greatest people you could ever meet.
