Lettie injured herself last week. She left the nest box and twice ended up in the parking lot of the plant. Employees called our resident "mother hen" and she was able to return her close to the box without spooking the others. We are in communications with the Raptor Resource Project and are watching her closely. Things look MUCH better today :)

Lettie... sit still for a couple more days and recover!!! :cryinggirl:

Thanks so much for that info!! WOW...I must really be behind here...I had no clue Lettie had gone AWOL, TWICE!!!

Yes thank you queenofslack, with that big roof for them to play on that when they are out of sight I just assume they are back there. I forget that there is all that open space in front.

I keep going back to this info...if Lettie grounded twice and was injured, was she checked out by a vet or rehabber? (you may not have that info)

After watching KF's vid, I'm thinking maybe she shouldn't have been placed back near the box...that limp is not much better than yesterday!!

Hopefully with rest, she will continue to improve...and IF she grounds again, I hope she will be checked over by an avian vet or rehabber if they are available..with this injury occurring last week, I'm even more concerned. With such a limp, there could be a fracture somewhere in that leg/foot caused by a hard landing in the parking lot..After watching her try to perch on the side arm of the box, its no wonder she grounded the second time..I thought she was gonna fall off yesterday. She cannot grip with that foot..

I though that RRP (Amy & Bob)was more or less in charge of anything to do with the falcons, remember they are the ones that went and took Belle's body out & took the eggs when Mom disappeared.
I'm not at the RRP forum anymore so I can't post there for Amy to even see anything. I wonder if she knows whats going on. Maybe someone here can post a emergency post there All the posts there are making it sound like all is fine & dandy. No mention of an injury or having to get Lettie AT ALL They just aren't up to date

I don't post over there much at all...but, I may head over this evening and post one of my vids and share the info we have..

But...I'm on my way out the door..so, not much help right now..

I haven't checked out things since this morning so I don't know how Lettie is doing this afternoon..

Well I posted on the FB page but they don't seem to interested in any of the nests but Decorah. The cam has changed and Lettie isn't there, this really worries me now, sure hope she is alright
Why would they change the view now?

RELAX. Bob & Amy are well aware of the situation and GRE is following their instructions on method of care. Lettie did leave the box again today and is on the far right of the camera as of 3:36pm 6/25. If she does again end up on the ground, another call will be placed to RRP for guidance.

Here's Lettie leaving the box onto the roof. Before she left she did scratch a bit with her sore foot and also clenched it. I really hope it's not serious, poor thing! I also have a video of her flapping on the outside rung earlier today.

I really appreciate you letting us know. Are you the one that went out looking all over the plant for mom when she disappeared a few years back?

WOO HOO...that is great news...that Bob and Amy know AND that Lettie was able to make it out of the box....well, I guess that is good news!! I guess she got tired of us staring at her..

This morning, foot still sore but she's using it. The girl on the perch just flew up to the roof.

It wasn't me that went looking all over town for our dear mom. I am not at the Elk River location but do work on the servers & stream. I do not however run the cameras so I quietly watch like the rest of you all :)
