I feel so, so, so bad for Chad!! He was right there yesterday and couldn't do a thing...I'm trying to remain positive, but I don't think they got the chick...and I'm not sure it even survived the night..I think they have left.

Unfortunately, I have to leave..gotta get ready to go out of town for a graduation..

just so sad...

Yes, I don't have a good feeling about this.

Enjoy your graduation, SGB!

Good grief, what a disaster. Why can't these people maintain a safe nest box for the birds. Didn't something crazy happen here a few years ago? I remember them stuffing cloths in some holes or something. I hope for the best but don't have much faith in this crowd. Poor Boomer.

I have a feeling its because falcons are no longer endangered in Ohio now & since the forum followers have lost interest since SW is gone, this nest isn't getting much attention by the powers that be. Glad Chad tried anyway but apparently it was too late. It should have been the authorities checking on this because as Carly said they have the authorizations & equipment.

I just had a thought. If the falcons "aren't important" anymore, can just anybody remove the eggs now?

well, I try to keep positive and try not to be too critical because I know , from our sites, how things go. But I guess what I will never understand is some of thinking. Even if birds are doing better , number wise, how can you let one die, how can you not maintain sites, . this is not out on the cliffs, where it would be safer.
my biggest fears is that once we do not care to take action , that is where the problems start all over again.
And I am not by any means putting Chris and Chad in this category. they remind me o f Peter and I , who try and do what is right, whenever we can.
just so sad for Boomer and Newton.

Good question! Does anyone know or is there a report that lists the states where the falcons have come off the endangered list! I can't believe after all of the effort to bring them back they will drop nests like "hot potatoes." I am sad!

Well, I'm not going to stick around for the outcome. Every little falcon life is precious and no animal should be caused to suffer when something could be done to help. Shame on these people.

and I am in total agreement. Double shame. When we let our kids have some rope , we do nto throw rope away. this all matters.

Just saw a post by C&C from last night that Ohio has decided that the Terminal Towers nest is the one in its district where they will band this year & banding day has been scheduled for 6/2. Too bad there won't be a chick alive for the banding. :tissue:

About to leave...but, saw this on cam..Not even gonna attempt to interpret..Parent is still there, just further to the left

Image

I also just checked the CMNH forum...no update yet from Chad...and no posts since Carly's at 10:22 am

Whatever the outcome...I'm just proud of BCAW for at least supporting this nest from afar... :superstar:

Back later this evening...
