Thanks, Priscilla! Boy, these people that go out on the ledges to get the chicks for banding are brave! Its bad enough walking out on the ledge, but when you have to fend off attacks from angry peregrine parents, that's really scary! :egg14:

Hi all!
Big news! Our three girls have a new sister!

On July 23, a young peregrine falcon was found on the streets in Trois-Rivières, Quebec, and unfortunately after a few days no one was able to find her nesting site or her parents. She was not injured, had only a few broken feathers. In Quebec we have a great organisation, Union Quebecoise de Réhabilitation des Oiseaux de Proie (http://www.uqrop.qc.ca/en/), looking after birds of prey. They have a great site with a bird of prey show, if you ever come to Quebec it is worth spending the afternoon there. They took good take of her until she was ready to be released back into the wild. Obviously she was still too young to be on her own, it was then decided to release her at the University of Montreal, hoping that Spirit and Arthurin would adopt her. She is of similar age than her new sisters, and the UdeM nesting site offers a relatively safe environment. So far it seems to be working! The newcomer, named "Marie" by the family who found her, has been welcomed by her new family. Here is a video from today where you can see her with her three sisters. Marie is banded with a grey band on the left leg only, no coloured band like the other juveniles. When I made the video she had not received her name yet so I refer to her as "Nouvelle".
