just quickly in

I have not energy or will right now to do report from yesterday. quite discouraged and now I am second guessing.

Blue may have been lost last night to maz. she slipped and flew that direction and cannot be found. Every nook and cranny has been checked. 2 males doing great .Peter checked this morning again for Blue and i will check as soon as i get there but no indications from parents , she is around either.

Sorry to hear about Blue. Never second guess. You saved her from the road. Mother Nature is always let us think, that we can save every falcon. But, with your action on the 4th chick saved it. All we have to do is remember Green Girl's story....... it is still being written.

Bev asked me to post that Blue has been found. She is low on University Terreace. It is not a good spot. They will be keeping a close eye on her.

Hi all.

Peter got a phone call from someone in an office building across from the Parkade that one of his "hawks" was looking in the office window. She can be seen from the parkade...but, I am just heading back shortly...when I last heard from Marge a couple of hours ago..she was still sitting on that window ledge. It is unfortunately VERY low to the ground, so though she's been found...not out of the woods just yet. I grabbed a couple of quick snaps this morning. The clarity of the pics should give you a good understanding of how low she is...my camera is a very unimpressive Canon...with a 300mm lens...so it's not that powerful, so she unfortunately isn't as far up as Bev (or any of us) would like to see her. Hope something has changed since I last heard. Husband and I are heading back there now. Will update FB after we get there if no one does before me.

it has been quite the few days.

the boys are flying high. White even went after pigeons today. they were sitting next to him on a balcony and when they took off, so did he. pretty impressive since he just fledged on Monday. green flies wonderfully but is more mellow. They have bonded quite well and most times are in same place :loveheart2:

Blue girl had to be rescued again. She tried to get over to balcony, and slipped. Piffle and greenboyfan were able to track where she went. Piffle was down the stairs in no time and had her cornered. Peter was just about to let me out of parkade to go home when Marge called. So back we went and Peter went with box and rescued her. I am betting on Piffle in next track meet.

thank-you Piffle and Greenboyfan . She has been checked out an d is fine but she will go to Pembina. She has proven she can fly but is getting into situations here. She is ending up on metal ledges and just cannot keep from slipping. this is best place for her. She is at home with me till tomorrow. Gord is going out to Pembina tomorrow with her and black band female from WEber

Gord was out here this afternoon and said she should have no problem flying out from where she was but she slipped again. third slip

Gord came to site because Peter got a call that a falcon was stuck in side at the mechanical building. It had flown in chasing a pigeon. So off he went. Well it was a Merlin and it was up in rafters so Peter, could not rescue. Gord came down with a spring loaded trap and hopefully she takes the bait. Peter will call them before he comes home tonight and if she is in trap , he will take it outside and release her. If not , he will check tomorrow morning.

Gord was at Pembina yesterday and he said the first falcon he saw flying up a storm was our blue banded male from WEber Yeah. He said 3 young ones were on cliff sharing a small piece of quail

We will go out when watch is over.

thank you Jean fo r coming over and caring enough about us to watch while we went for coffee, and also coming over and bringing me hot gingerlemon tea, I guess I did nt look so good but such good people.

So once again a big thank you to all today. you did good

Poor little Blue Girl, I hate to see her go, taken away from all she knows, her brothers and parents. Very sad situation. I wish that she had stayed in the box another couple of days longer, maybe that would have helped. Thanks for the report and the beautiful pictures of her.

And a special thanks to all involved with her rescues.

Tonight I just stopped by to see what was happening with blue. And as Bev said she was with her. Sent Peter home for a nice glass of wine and a good meal with Bev. White came off the U. terrace and over to the college plaza. Radisson was flying back and forth from the nest box to her perch at the top of the college plaza. At just before 9:15 Barb stopped by. At 9:30 Trish and Barb and I noticed at pigeon flying over the parkade and going east. Just as it passed the U terrace, down comes Radisson from the top and she was a "hunting she will go". And slowly returns and flying low, Radisson fly in front of the east side of the parkade with the prey and landed 2 levels lower than white. It was not a clean kill, Trish has the photos to prove it...
Green decides he wants some but could not find mom hidden in the alcove. So, he landed on the north side of the building and stayed put.
After it was dead and some defeathering it, Radisson fly over to the U terrace and kept defeathering it. She left it there and went back to the nest box.
I did not see Chase at all.
Good night

Morning Report
The BOYS did not go out and party on a weekday. They stayed put for the night.
Green gave us a show on how to glide to the CS building and all around the area.
Green got feed ontop of the human hideway
White fly over to the CSjut and got feed there.
Pretty quiet for the birds.
But, not for humans , they were sandblasting near us. We don't need facials or to brush our teeth and we had grits for breakfast.
Peter brought Blue with him for Gord to take.

TY Bev and Peter for having a Peregrine Hotel with car service.

On the plus side, though, she is alive and well. Plus, when she goes out to the Pembina, not only will she have her sister who had to be removed from the box earlier in the season, but many more peregrine chick friends with whom she can bond, while she flies around with no windows or slippery ledges. :)

Agree with Piffle. Where Blue is going is beautiful...wild...and has no windows or ledges! She's so lucky that there are two of them the same age from Edmonton going out together...it's unfortunate that she won't have her parents, but she will be ALIVE and have foster siblings...perfect!

To all that have been and seen the hack site, in the past we have lost many to the windows and other urban killers, this place is wild natural and beautiful. It has a pair with a failed nest and so, this season they will adopt about 21 juvies over the summer. If all goes well we could find 3 or 5 nests pairs next few years on the Pembina River. Dr. Gordon Court and Bev and Peter hats off to you. We are just in awe of the nature that we get to see and help with.

To all the team that is there night and day , and on call... salute

Gord picked up Blue banded female from us yesterday. He checked her out again and then cut open a quail and started to feed her. He gave her heart first, as that has most moisture. He had to force her to eat at first. She was dehydrated form not eating since the day before, she was on University terrace.

He is just so gentle with these guys.
She will stay in hack box till Tuesday. that will give her time to gain strength and flap and imprint on area.

She just could not keep her footing. She seemed to loose all confidence.
Peter said when she saw him , she looked t him as if to ay , not again.

so now we will continue to watch white and green . they are doing well

After this week, Peter and I will start taking a few pciutres, as per usual. . We do not when the kids are testing their wings as they need our full focus.

Sorry for a short report but we are drained right now

Green was in box briefly last night
