Peter and I cannot go down till Thursday again, as we are picking up young kids at end of day.

yellow was just in box He is looking good. he is still on outside playing around.

I had to look at this several times before I figured out it was Chase on roof and a kid buzzing hiim LOl



radisson minding her own business and in comes yellow.



I am almost done a slideshow that shows a bond between Radisson and Yellow

chase was on roof and then in box just after 7am , he came back to box just after 7:30am and then left

12:35pm

adult on top of box cannot see legs enough to tell who but is an adult.



I guess they can fly off quicker from there when kids come in. Miserable day today so....

hear a kid at 12:55 so rest time over

Piffle saw all 3 youngsters today on CS .,Prey was present so hopefully all ate
I am sure she will not mind me posting the picture she sent me. It shows all 3 on south side of CS

I thought it was a great shot taken with her phone.



And we were graced with Yellows presence again in box. maybe he is enjoying a box without bars

I'm so glad this is working out (so far)...its kinda funny, though...Yellow spending so much time at the grandparents house..hee hee

U of A

last night Peter and I took time to visit U of A and WEber

When we got to to U of A , we found one on west side of Suite hotel ,north of nest site. So we went to Education building area and parked and scoped and took pictures. Pictures coming( I know I always say that and I am so late doing it, but it takes so much time to size etc).
It was Yellow eating like no tomorrow. He had a gull. I would like to think he caught it but no way of telling. If you remember , WEber chicks were self feeding 2 weeks before any other nest. He is just a stunning falcon, so much like radisson and thus Green girl.

He ate for over a half hour . I did not see him take a breath , except to defeather more. As Jean reminded us, do not all teenagers eat as if no tomorrow. LOL. Jean had 2 in view on her end. one on CP and one on CS.

Yellow eventually finished and flew off toward nest area. So away we went. Jean had him on netting. It seems to have become a favorite spot for him.

We could only see one other, chowing down on jut of Clinical science. Jean said he had been eating for a half hour. The adults are probably trying to get them to get their own food. And maybe they are but we have no way of knowing unless we see it. ( in our years of watching we have only seen a youngster get prey in our sight, twice).
Peter id this youngster, as white. After he finished eating , he flew over to maz. Yellow flew over there after and knocked white off . White flew over to roof of Clinical science and out of sight.

Yellow eventually flew over to top of clinical science on top right( north). He looked like he owned the place. LOL

White flew off roof and flew out west. A bit later 2 kids came screaming in. Green( by elimination process )began eating on pillar on south side of Clinical science and white flew from aerial to aerial on east and south part of clinical science. Yellow stayed put. When white came in he did fly over to maz and past yellow

Then all 3 just perched and preened and were quiet. They were satisfied.

Then we heard squawking . Chase had just flown in above clinical science and was heading to turn in.
Big mistake. He had yellow and green hot on his tail and then off flew white also. It was just amazing to watch. Chase went into turn in and kids flew in and so out he went. He flew all over, with kids in hot pursuit.
He flew past Jeans balcony , with kids on his tail. We had 4 flying and it was hard to keep track . They would go into turn in spot an out and around buildings and over by maz . It was a flying frenzy and it was awesome. So good for Yellow to get this kind of flying in. They all are just incredible fliers. And for once , I was on Chases side. Poor guy. Lol We could not even begin to take pictures.
WE lost track of one, I think it was Chase , getting out of there. We decided to do a count, and as we were leaving parking area, we saw RAdisson on back o f Maz. I do believe she was there all the time we were there. We had one on aerial on west CP .

WE had 2 in turn in , so we have 4. we need one more.

but we decided to go to Weber in case Yellow went home ( that is another story for weber). AT Weber we just had 2 adults and searched all over but no yellow.

We went back to university and it was quite dark, but we counted 5 in turn in spots. 4 on north turn in side and one on south turn in side. Peter said it was probably Chase on other side.

it has been active at Bell. E4 and Red. My friend knows every move of both and is sure it is them

With lots of help we are keeping track of all our falcons. Peter an di will take a trip down there on weekend . too busy with construction on week days

U of A

this is a slideshow I did of yellow and Radisson. I did shed a few tears that night as radisson accepted yellow .

Radisson was in box and yellow landed on netting. Yellow eventually went to box and radisson flew off with Yellow following. She landed on her aerial and yellow did not make it first time but he eventually scaled his way up and knocked her from her perch. They flew and did a few gentle maneuvers but for the most part, yellow followed RAdisson. It was just so nice to see. you have to really look at pciutres to see both of them. He is so much like Radisson but that is because he is so much like green girl.

at 1:55 in slideshow, Yellow knocks RAdisson off again and this time he stays there and Radisson goes into her turn in spot ( 2:13 in video).
Yellow explores CP and gets used to its many spots. He loves flying
3:02in video you will see all 3 kids. 3:05 is white ,3:08 and 3:09 is green boy,3:14 is white , 3:19 is green again, 3:25 is Chase,3:30 is yellow , who can be seen with white in one picture


Why yellow came to the U of A will never be known. He was well fed and when you see his skills, he was trained. We can guess all we want, but as long as he eats, can hunt and is happy, that is all I care about. We know he has been back at least twice since August 9th( when he was first spotted by jean at U of A .)

so this was done with a lot of heart . It could have turned out so differently.

Bev....thanks for putting that together!! I guess we learn something new every day!! I think Yellow just wanted playmates...but, so pleasantly surprised that Radisson accepted him!!

Thanks so much for the detailed reports and pictures. I'm glad that Yellow is happy and has been accepted by his new family but I can't help but feel a little sorry for his parents who did their part but ended up with no chicks. What a puzzle. I can just picture poor little Chase zooming all around with the boys right behind him.

I feel the same ljames about Green girl and DO1 but I somehow think Yellow makes appearances there and he had been flying for 3 weeks when he showed up at U of A , so they will know they succeeded .

That is very interesting about yellow boy. What great info gleaned from watching and banding and using the coloured tapes. I wondered before how often this might occur with close nest sites.
