This doesn't look good :(
Middle egg is moving around - lighter weight?

Image

Edited -been alone for over 15 min. and now that I
think about it the adult in the nest wasn't very careful
with the eggs. The falcon was moving around in the nest
when I pulled up the cam...

I checked this am and we had a adult on the eggs.

This afternoon not so much - several times eggs are
alone.

Something happened to a parent and the sitting adult
is going out to find food??

This is the only falcon I have seen in the past 3 hrs..To be honest, I'm not sure if I'm looking at the male or female...if its the male, very unusual for him to take the night shift..

Beth, you may right about problems here???!!!

Anyway, here's my suggestion...I have to work tomorrow (Saturday)...somebody needs to contact Joel Jorgensen (I'll go find the email address) He's very receptive and I exchanged several emails with him already this season regarding the Lincoln male showing up at Woodmen..

another option is their FB page. You have to request to join in order to post...but, Jeanne posted pics from today showing both parents...and looking at her pics, it looks like I've got the male in mine..

Image

Also, there have been 2 incidences where an adult has been trapped in a balcony near the nest and Joel had to go up to rescue.

Anyway, I'm going to message her on FB.

Here's the FB link (I've requested to join)

Back in a few with Joel's email..

Here's Joel's email address:

joel.jorgensen@nebraska.gov

If those of you monitoring this nest feel there is a problem and you are not comfortable emailing Joel, just let me know and I'll be happy to do so tomorrow evening. In my message to Jeanne (via FB) I shared your concerns. She must live near the nest, so I asked her, if she is available, to go scope it out and if SHE is concerned, I feel sure she has Joel's phone number and will call him!!

I'm looking at the cam right now...definitely the male on the eggs. He's in a different position which is making me question if I was really looking at Alley last night... :girlcrazy: the markings on the head look differently...

I just don't know these birds well enough to know what I"m looking at..

:loveheart: Watching mama on her eggs... She just performed an "expert" quarter turn, barely offering a brief peek at an egg. She's a pro!

Article I just got

Five peregrine falcon eggs on the Capitol’s west promenade are about to hatch, but it’s unlikely all of them will.

For the past two years, only a portion of the eggs conceived by the pair of peregrine falcons that have made a nest atop the Capitol have hatched, said Joel Jorgensen, nongame bird program manager at the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.

This year, the female falcon named Ally and the male called 19/K are guarding five eggs in their nest on the Capitol's 18th floor. Jorgensen said they're likely to hatch within the next week or so.

Ally has laid a similar number of eggs each of the past two years. Last year, one chick hatched. The year before, two hatched but died after being blown off the building by a thunderstorm.

Jorgensen noted that Ally is 15 and 19/K is 12, which could be affecting the fertility of the eggs.

The birds have become local celebrities of sorts, with a live camera feed providing constant coverage of their lives to thousands of viewers around the world. Find the Peregrine Falconcam at outdoornebraska.gov/falconcam.

“I’m just excited people are still interested,” Jorgensen said.
