Miracle on the Chesapeake!
After being exposed in rainy low 50F weather for #1 7+ hours...
We have a HATCH on the Chesapeake Conservancy nest!!!
(Can you tell I'm in shock! Excited!)
Pictures are blurry - will post when possible!

Today is day 40 for egg #1.

An intruder has been bothering Audrey for over an hour. Tom flew in a couple of times, and even brooded the new chick while Audrey went after the intruder.
In this pic, Audrey went after the intruder, an Osprey. The little one is trying to hold his little bobblehead up - "What's going on around here!"
(Also, 2 - 3 feeding attempts were made. Audrey's body blocked one, and another that I saw was not successful. Tomorrow the little one will be ready to eat!)

4:54pm Intruder still hanging around... wonder if it's a previous year's offspring?

Tom just stopped by and encouraged Audrey to get up by rearranging a stick near her tail! She got up, Tom had a good look, and just left. I bet he returns with a fish! (lighting isn't good - pic doesn't show much)
