This was the first feed... it's some type of rodent. Look at the tail and the paws/feet....

Looks like a mouse or a rat.

I saw DC bring food but I didn't see it after he left, so he must have taken it with him. I thought he was up to his old tricks, but he just came back with it so I guess he defeathered it for Beauty. :eggthumbup:

I just noticed that in the second of Terka's captures above, a baby is on its back. I think it was here last year that there was brief trauma because a baby was on its back & the dad couldn't figure out how to turn him over. Mom turned him over when she returned. I think that was here.

Oh, yes..that was here but everything turned out OK..DC was quite perplexed with the whole thing. :teehee:

I think she gave him some food to help feed the babies but he just stood there with it in his mouth! He seems perplexed by the whole bunch! :teehee:

The feather in the mouth was from Beauty having to clean the food as she fed. It rained feathers and that's how the baby happen to catch it in its opened mouth. The new hatch is the one on far left, bottom pic. It keeps wandering away, towards Beauty's tail..she had to pick it up with her beak to bring it back to the pile! :egglaugh":

I watched a pair of eagles do that a few months ago. Dad was a first-timer. He was tearing off pieces and feeding baby #1, then baby #2, and then since Mom was standing there, he fed her too. It was both sweet and hilarious!

I kinda thought that the bite Beauty gave DC was for him to feed a chick, too. The little one with the feather in his mouth didn't get anything until the end so I was hoping DC would feed him! :egg13:
