Actually, there is a video of the girls from November 17 on ZA's facebook page, Sally. They look pretty content eating bamboo.
Hope all their transition is going more smoothly. I am glad they have each other. :loveheart2:

One cubbie still on the cam so I wonder what is going on with the 100 Day celebration. I can't find any update from ZA's website or FB page.

At first I thought the panda cam may have been stuck, but the little one just wiggled.

With more than 23,400 votes cast, winning set of names is announced on the twins’ 100th day of life
"The only giant panda twins in the U.S. can officially shed the alphabet letters A and B in favor of their new names: Ya Lun and Xi Lun. The names were revealed at the twins’ 100 Day Naming Celebration on December 12, 2016, at Zoo Atlanta.

The winning pair from among seven sets of names supplied by conservation partners in Chengdu, China, Ya Lun (Cub A – yah-loon) and Xi Lun (Cub B – shee-loon) earned just over 11,000 of the more than 23,400 votes cast by panda fans around the world from November 21 to December 4. Ya means “elegant,” and Xi means “happy.” Lun references daughters of Lun Lun. Together, the monikers mean “Lun Lun’s elegant and happy daughters.”

“We’re thrilled to announce two beautiful and meaningful names for two healthy, thriving, 100-day-old giant panda cubs. This is a celebration we share with the City of Atlanta, our longtime partners at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding in China, and with our Zoo Atlanta family, which includes friends and fans from around the world,” said Raymond B. King, President and CEO. “As we wish Ya Lun and Xi Lun well today, we celebrate the future of their species together.”

The 100 Day Celebration, which has been followed with all seven Atlanta-born giant pandas, is an ancient Chinese tradition that holds that when a child reaches the 100th day of life, he or she has survived the fragility of infancy and may be considered on track for a successful future. Ya Lun’s and Xi Lun’s festivities opened with a performance by the Wesley International School Choir. Remarks followed from Raymond B. King; Xie Fei, Culture Counselor from the Consulate of the People’s Republic of China in Houston, Texas; and Hayley Murphy, DVM, Vice President of Animal Divisions at Zoo Atlanta. The banners bearing the names were revealed by the Zoo’s giant panda care team, followed by a celebratory traditional lion dance by the Chien Hong School of Kung Fu.

The animal guests of honor were not present to meet their fans; the duo is still learning to walk. Ya Lun and Xi Lun are expected to make their debut in late December 2016 or January 2017. Take a peek at the pair on PandaCam hosted by Animal Planet L!VE at zooatlanta.org/pandacam.

Ya Lun and Xi Lun play important individual roles in one of Zoo Atlanta’s longest-term conservation collaborations.
Giant pandas represent the Zoo’s most significant financial investment in wildlife conservation, with over $10 million contributed in sustained support for wild giant pandas. The International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) downgraded the giant panda’s status from “endangered” to “vulnerable” in September 2016, but the species remains heavily reliant on conservation programs. Fewer than 1,900 giant pandas are estimated to remain in the wild in China’s Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu provinces, where they face continuing threats from habitat fragmentation and habitat loss as a result of deforestation and other human activities. More than 1,200 of China’s remaining wild giant pandas live inside nature reserves, eight of which are supported by Zoo Atlanta.

Born September 3, 2016, the twins are the second set of twins for Lun Lun and the sixth and seventh offspring of Lun Lun and Yang Yang. Their older brothers and sisters, male Mei Lan, male Xi Lan, female Po and female twins Mei Lun and Mei Huan, now reside at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding in China."

Panda Updates Zoo Atlanta

Monday, December 12
We hope by now you’ve all heard the exciting news that the cubs finally have names: Ya Lun (Cub A) and Xi Lun (Cub B!). Maybe they don’t know their names just yet, but in their world, they’re still continuing on track with their own set of milestones. And a milestone for me is going to be learning to call them by their new names!

Image

Xi Lun/Cub B isn’t the only one with teeth now! Ya Lun/Cub A, too, has had both of her bottom canines and even one molar begin to grow in. We can also see some bottom incisors, just below the surface on both cubs, that should be coming out soon. Soon enough, they’ll have some beautiful pearly whites!

Panda Updates from Zoo Atlanta

Wednesday, December 14
What a busy week in the panda nursery! Monday was the much anticipated naming ceremony, and Tuesday was another big milestone: Lun Lun had both of her cubs with her at the same time. In 2013, we waited until both Mei Lun and Mei Huan were walking before putting them in with Lun Lun at the same time, but this year we thought they were ready a bit earlier. Both Ya Lun and Xi Lun can scoot around quite successfully, and Lun Lun has been very responsive to their vocalizations. Lun Lun also confirmed what we all wondered and conjectured about; she did know there were two cubs. Upon opening the door between Lun Lun and both cubs, she was nonchalant and very casual. Lun Lun walked past them a few times looking at them and listening to their vocalizations, but with the ease and calm of an experienced and comfortable mother. We will continue to remove the cubs for weight checks twice a day, and they are receiving some supplemental formula to ensure they are getting all the nutrients that they need in addition to Lun Lun’s milk. The first 12 hours proved to be successful, and we look forward to watching more play, snuggling, and quality panda time together in the months to come as Ya Lun and Xi Lun grow and develop together.

A busy morning for Mommie and the girls
Lun Lun returns to the box and grabs one while the two are playing.

Lun Lun turns around to nurse the first.

Finally, she puts the first one down sleeping and picks up the other who gets busy nursing.

Lun Lun is gone and both Xi and Ya are sleeping peacefully :zzzzz

Friday, December 16 Panda Updates from ZA
Friday, December 16
Lun Lun, Ya Lun and Xi Lun are all doing well together. We are still monitoring them 24 hours a day. Lun Lun instinctively knows which cub she nursed or stimulated last, and thus that the other cub needs that attention next. Every time she returns to the nest box, she picks up the "correct" cub, so to speak, and attends to her first before checking the other cub. Right now she is usually attending to the cubs separately, but both cubs are receiving equal care and time with mom. However, we have also seen Lun Lun holding and playing with both cubs together. Once the cubs are mobile, they will not let her choose to care for them separately and will be a bit more demanding of her attention. For now, Lun Lun is most comfortable keeping them both in the nest box and caring for them when they need her. While Lun Lun is away, the cubs sleep, exercise, and play with each other.

Well, as I was posting, Lun Lun left but Xi and Ya are still sound asleep.
