Just saw 2 eyases. Hope is eating shell. Did C7 survive? I didn't see 2 the last time she shuffled on top.

According to Kate's blog, C5 (first hatch) was eaten, C6 (2nd hatch) is live chick. C7 is the 3rd hatch.

Thanks for the pic showing 2 eyases under Hope. Now we have the last egg C8 to go.

C7 is about an hour old and is still alive, as best as we can tell.

Barb at the Chesapeak nest in Baltimore was called - crazy girl - by a couple people. When her first egg hatched, she picked it up and put it in the corner with 'trash' - this was her first year - 2015.
She is a little odd, but she's a good mom..

and Someone watching Redgirl - wilminton - told me her FIRST year, she picked up a chick and threw it in the air!

birds have personalities like humans

Probably saw what she's been doing and decided to step in..good for him and for the wee one. Go Terzo go!

:eggthumb: Isn't that something, Carly? Terka's pics show Hope bending over the chick during hatching and Terzo moving toward them. What a smart tiersel. He was the reason for last year's only surviving chick and seems to recognize what's going on here. Amazing! I wonder if Bev was recording and if she got that?

I've been at work all day, but my thoughts have been here...I'm still very cautiously optimistic that this is gonna be ok..

I won't rehash my comments from last night, but like several have said, I really don't think Hope deliberately killed her first chick. I still have that recording and have watched it again (and again). She was really trying to get it out of the shell..and it just didn't work..

Anyway...great coverage everyone!!

I'm gone most of Wednesday..so, here's hoping tomorrow will be good for this little family!!

Kate's blog notes
C6 hatched in the early hours of 25 April.
C7 hatched late on 25 April.
The last egg, C8, is still unhatched as of now (26 April 2017, 7am).

The two chicks at the Cathedral of Learning, C6 and C7, were fed this morning at 6:25am
