Saw her feeding two, but couldn't get streaming cam.

I will be watching but after I saw th e update, which just is not true. she did not kill the chick. I will no t make many comments. for the last time, she tried to help the chick hatch.

It is too bad that logical thinking someone was talking about is nto used in these updates. it is updates like this that set people off.

Glad to see two made it out alive!!!
Terzo is turning out to be quite the tiercel!
Hopefully in time, he can do the site justice from the previous great parent occupants.

Last egg has a good pip/crack in it. 2:52pm - good view of it now & I can see the little one moving in it.

I think Terzo is on duty with the kids right now.

Oh good, hope it hatches it out while he is there. He seems to be a calming presence on Hope.

I know. I noticed that, and hoped the same.

I've got my screen magnified & I'm pretty sure it's him. He had the egg out front and you could see some movement in it. No picking at it. If this is Hope, she' not picking either.

Correction - it is Hope with the kids. - saw green on her band. I think Terzo is red/black.

They are very hungry. She left them for a minute, I think to give the "we need food signal". She's standing over them now.

Food needs to arrive PRONTO

I'm getting nervous.

The kids are hungry. I think the next egg has a crack/pip & she can probably hear the chick. She's scooting around on it & it sometimes pops out. She keeps looking up. You can almost sense her unease/anxiousness... (or I'm applying my own).

Everytime the egg pops out, I get nervous, especially when she moves and the little ones stand up & cry for food. She's pebble picking. It's almost like frantic-ness.

I'm hearing him screaming in distance. Must be clearing the airspace.

Thanks for the play by play mwplay...I am reading your commentary from my office with no cam access. I hope Terzo stays close by. Your descriptions of Hope with the hatching process is exactly how I saw it...she appears extremely anxious and yes, the pebble picking did look frantic to me the night after the 1st chick died. I pray that all goes well for this last chick. Hope seems great with the kids once they are out of the shell.

Yes, Terzo is red/black.

Thought I heard Terzo.

Hope got up & vocalized to him.

She took off for a few seconds, and is now back on the kids.

And back off again.

Hopefully food comes in soon. The little ones are hungry!

One just came back to perch - Terzo. He's now down in the box with the kids.

Hope just fed the kids again and had them stuffed. 7pm ET.

I'm convinced after seeing her with the kids, I really do think she got stressed during hatch and was trying to help #1, as most of you have pointed out. Intentionally killing - I'm NOT at all convinced. She is very attentive and fed these 2 until they fell back asleep.

Depends on the male, ours like to try and feed - they aren't always allowed to :egg7:

He could also be concerned given the situation, he may not understand it if he witnessed things ..either way better he's more involved than not. Good for her and good for the kids.

I think if some males see that the female comes back, it is time to go! :sprint

Look like Hope is now on a 2-hour schedule for feeding.

I think the third egg just hatched. The chicks is quiet now but it was very vocal. OK, now it's starting up again. Hope is playing with an empty eggshell. Hard to see, but I'm going wait to post it to Breaking News once its daylight & I am certain.

Thanks for the great coverage, everyone...I'm feeling encouraged...

I second your observation, mwplay...I still have the recording of her trying to get the first chick out of the shell...she was kinda frantic. As sad as it was to lose the first one, maybe she learned enough (combined with Terzo being there) that it has saved hatch 2 and 3 and possibly #4. Fingers crossed.
