Clara is looking st the sick girl, probably because she knows something isn't right. :egg15:

She's in the midst of a seizure. :egg15:

The cam is pointed down the 'walkway' - two of the chicks have explored past the drain, and the THIRD is not far behind, almost up to the drain!

(Doesn't this 'exploring' usually happen shortly after banding?
I'm so glad that #3 is trying to keep up!)

2 of the chicks made it to the end of the road...
now they're both out of sight... and the cam just moved and the 2 just made it back to nest (one in and one right next to it in the left corner - where the 'sick' chick has stood before).
#3 is at the drain ( :loveheart: )

(I obviously can't tell one from the other, even when enlarging)

Added 10:21am
Oh! One of the chicks just joined the chick at the drain!
:loveheart2:

I haven't seen any more problems with the chick (but haven't been watching 100%).
Right now 2 chicks are in nest, napping - far left corner - with a parent,
and one chick is right below them in that left corner, looking up at h/h family.

One of the chicks is having a hard time standing upright.
(I missed most of this episode.)
I started watching when the chick was near the middle of the nest flailing around on its back.
Parent is there.
Chick bumped into 1 or maybe both of the other chicks (??) couldn't tell.

4:10pm
Chick is on its back again.
Kind of righted itself

I hope someone more knowledgeable can watch this
(and I can't take pics on the pc).

Chick managed to prop itself up against the far left wall.

Poor chick just tumbled out of the nest, to the left corner.

(Someone is controlling the cams, so they must be aware of this.)

Thanks, Terka!
Poor chick is trying so hard to get back into the nest. She's really trying to compensate, just can't stay upright for long.
(She looks like she could be the biggest chick.)

I wish they could remove her and take her into care, it would be the humane thing to do. She's going to fall off the ledge to her death at some point and that would be tragic. I know it's nature but if she can't be helped then at least end her life humanely instead of on the pavement.

:loveheart2:

Thanks, Carly.

:15heartbeat: :loveheart:

6:15pm (Eastern time)

Quick peek (have not been watching):
Looks like parent is standing behind the 'tumbler' chick, maybe to help steady her(?), help to prop her up(?).
Regardless, the chick is upright.

Oh My. :15heartbeat:

Added: 6:19pm
Parent (Mom?) just moved away from the chick, but has eyes on her.
What a sweetheart!

And the parent is gone.

Added
(6:21pm)
Chick's right wing looks a little droopy.

(Whoever is working this cam is doing a great job!)
Chick is still upright.

Bonbon, Glenn is aware of these neurological symptoms and says the chick will probably not survive.

Thanks, Catwoman; what a shame... Definitely doesn't look good, does it?
:cryinggirl:

11:39am (Eastern)
Quick check: Parent is standing beside chick, next to/below the nest. I saw the chick stir; can't tell whether it's on it's back or ????

Cam just pulled back showing a feisty chick walking down the ledge, past the drain, to the other end - where the third chick looks like s/he's taking a snooze in the corner.

CORRECTION: Don't know who is at the end of the ledge that the chick came to visit - looked like it was having a problem standing up.
(Haven't been watching long enough this morning to figure this out.)

I think the chick at the end of ledge is the one with the problem.

Tough to see at these non manageable nest sites...Had it been a site where management was possible, the ear membrane could be checked to see if it had opened.

C.W., does Glenn have a blog where he posts info?
Is he controlling the cam? (Whoever is controlling the cam does an excellent job.)

FYI...

Just posted to SJ Yahoo Forum:

The State has made an exception to policy based on the circumstances of this particular bird. I will go to the ledge tomorrow morning shortly after 7 a.m. to retrieve the youngster and take her directly to Dr. Van Sant's "For The Birds" avian veterinary practice for evaluation and treatment. --glenn@scpbrg
