I get so upset with all the development, and loss of our environment. They will only learn , when it is too late.

WE are putting up bat boxes around here to keep population going.

It was both good and awful to see the 2 removed who were gone.
I hated seeing them laying there!
I noticed the roof, side and outer perch of the nestbox was sprayed
The RRP plan is / was to band them this weekend but rain is predicted the next several days

Met someone today who was in Iowa last week.
She lives on the Miss River.
I asked her about flies - and yes, MANY flies last week
swarming everywhere

Michelle's turns 12 years old today. And thank you to RRP for the opportunity to watch her for the last 5 years. If I am correct, Bob Anderson banded her those 12 years ago. She's been a joy to watch and I have learned so much. - RRP Lanogirl

What a relief to have the 2 dead chix gone -
now the 2 healthy chicks are coming to the doorway.
NOT TOO CLOSE to the opening yet! :o

bon, the flies were so bad a couple years ago,
they drove all 4 kids to - fludge - too early.
They were able to flap enuf to break their fall,
and parents fed them and they were fine.
After all, they are raised on cliffs in the wild.

Sweet Mom Michelle eats the bugs off her babies.
every year.

You and I have to contend with what Nature deals out.
So do the birds n beasties.

A few hours ago I saw one chick put its foot on the box edge.
I thot - BACK OFF! :o
Lil guy went up - and out - and slip ..
and I thot - NO NO NO - NOT AGAIN!
Mom alerted - grabbed her baby - several times -
hauled it back inside. wow
