Congratulations! We have a beautiful new baby here. This is Cady's baby, given the timing. I am so glad for her and especially for Dad, who has been incubating these eggs for an eternity. Has Dad seen his baby yet?

But I think it's okay now.

38 days after Cadence laid her first egg, so that is perfectly normal. (This year's average between 1st egg and 1st hatch is currently 39.24 days)

Thank you for the info. I was wondering if it was because the larger clutch size and 1st time incubation by new mom...

Cadence began full incubation with the 1st egg she laid since there were already two of Mom's in the nest. Dad was already in full incubation mode. Egg development is 33 days and begins from the start of full incubation, which can vary depending on how many eggs are laid and odd circumstances like at this nest. Cady laid eggs on 4/22, 4/24, and 4/27. Hatching should have started for each on 5/25, 5/27, and 5/30. I suspect that this hatch is either her 2nd or 3rd egg. Cady has been restless for several days, so this hatch may be the 2nd egg, but this hatch could also be the last egg she laid. I am hoping for one more hatch, but I'll be happy with whatever we get.

I saw the large crack, took a snap, but wasn't sure if it was the shell from hatch 1 over a different egg, or if it was a potential 2nd hatch.

That was my thought as well. I hope it's a 2nd hatch happening, but I don't think so.
