Raining here. Helicopter just came in on the roof and of course RAdisson did not even give it her time of day.

thanks Sally :15heartbeat:

U of A june11

today, oldest chick is 8 days old; 2 are 7 days old ; and the youngest is 5 days old

We have spent the last 4 days watching closely, as when the last hatch is 3 days younger than the oldest and the oldest may be the biggest( females), we have to make sure he is getting fed enough. I am saying a male for now. The others tend to squeeze him out.

so it was touch and go there for awhile . He was not getting very much. Chase came to the rescue one day and fed him while she fed the others and then yesterday , he did a small feed and youngest got it all.

then the day he was born we had our people on Maz roof. so that did nto help and either did the all day rain.

So as of this moment things are O.k. but we have to still watch til he gets a bit bigger. Emyrauld and I are beat. Could not do this without her :15heartbeat:

do not worry if you do not see R with kids . this is where she goes sometimes( on the cam in front)

Image

pictures in a bit.

Bell june11

kids are both 15 days old today. they will need a crane to move them. E4 just keep s feeding them. they are far away or you could see crops better. She could feed 4 or 5 but at this site, 2 is more than enough

well our youngster is learning to get up there and eat and fighting off his sisters. I wanted no females. they are so hard to monitor.

but we have at least 2 :egg11:

It has been a long week the kids today are 10, 9, and 7 days old. 2 are 9 days

this does to seem like a big difference in age but when at least 2 are females and youngest is probably male, it can be touch and go with feedings

and yes, westend , they are noisier it seems ( trouble)

then there is always a late to the table :egg11:

the last few days have been a bi t wierd so may check things out to make sure there are not any 2 legged creatures around .

It is so frustrating when there is this kind of interference. No one seems to care to do anything, so we will see tomorrow. If is other birds than nothing I can do, and if it is 2 legged monsters, nothing I can do, but at least I will know.

these are from yesterday ( been too busy trying to figure out what is going on to do pictures)

yesterday the 2 youngsters went out the door and E4 was right there to corral them back in. wish I had had time to do vidoe

Image

Image

short video of E4 going in and taking small bit of prey out an d hten male sneaks in and does the same LOL

I will be back in a bit to post some cam pciutres but Peter and I went down to Bell today to check things out. We had our birds kaking away from ledge last few days and we think we know why.

Epcor building is one of their roost. There are window washers on it. We saw them also. the falcons believe they own this building :egg11: I have posted pictures of them on there in past. there are also a lot of cranes moving in area so that may have them upset also.
When we were down today, we saw th e male on the Bell building ledge, facing in and E4 was on the north west top part of the Epcor building. this building is Northeast of bell and not far from them.
so Emyrauld s son sent her this

how cool

E4 has been very protective of her chicks and has not been letting them out of box but today, they are taking a few steps

Emyrauld recorded E4 and the egg today.

the egg must have had a crack as E4 picked it up in her beak. It must have been fertile as she was eating contents. As sad as it is , we are harpy that a 15 years if age she has 2 healthy chicks :15heartbeat:

banding has been rescheduled till Wednesday. the reason is the great peregrine man, Richard Fife passed away on Saturday and the family has asked Dr gord, court to do the eulogy. how fitting.

Ridhard Fyfe , is the reason we have peregrines today. this is one of many articles.

TPC from the Manitoba forum named a peregrine chick after him in 2011. He would be Beatrix's brother. :egg19:
