i watched that on Fb. was very impresssed I am glad to see there others that just do not put up cams and leave the birds to the elements. I say over and over, it is nature , but if you see something that can be helped, you help , if possible. they went above and beyond

I was pretty sure that I had seen two chicks in here a couple of hours ago.

Don't look anywhere near old enough to be leaving that box.

Well I didn't see when the first one went out but I was watching the 2nd one until I couldn't anymore because he sure looked like he was sorry to be out there. Footing was not sure at all, I'm surprised that he made it back to the box.

One of them almost fell early this morning but then caught himself and went back into the box! Oh dear now what!!!!!

Here are videos of both chicks falling from the other camera or PTZ cam. In the second vid after the chick falls you can see a parent fly up where it fell. The parent must have been attending the other chick...hope so! Better view if watched in full screen.

Oh my gosh, that's the saddest thing ever to watch those two little precious chicks fall from that nest.

I just saw this update on Great Spirit Bluff facebook page......

Per the Raptor Research Folks:
We are aware that Hamilton and Burr-D are out of the box at Great Spirit Bluff. The two falcons are around 28 days of age today and we have decided not to try to bring them back to the box. Michelle and Newman will find them and care for them until fledge, as we saw in 2013 and 2014. We will see if we can locate them with the camera, but we have no intention of going to the base of the cliff, which could drive them deeper into the tangle below. We are hopeful for both little falcons and will keep everyone posted.

John is thinking about ways to design the replacement box that will minimize problems with black flies. We are about 40% of the way through our banding season and it looks like black flies and weather plagued impacted many of our wilder sites this year. We'll talk about that later this week.

yes, the parents fed and cared for 2 of the chicks and one was rescued and put in a foster nest that year. We watched them a few weeks later as they made thr way up to top of cliff. It was such joy. I pray , for the same again. i f they are in a tree, they will be safer from predators. We see them in the trees all the time at our Pembina river.

I am so glad they are on top of the new box idea.

in some areas it is black flies plaguing them in others flash floods on cliffs.

Yes, there's been LOTS of kakking by parents
and screaming by kids
as bev said - couple weeks we'll see them flyin up on bluff

That's good. Hopefully, all will be OK for these kids. They say the black flies were very bad this year in Minnesota from all the rain. Such is nature.

Noisy chicks and seeing parents in the canopy below the nest box. It looked like there was a prey exchange from the parents.
