Anyone else watching a few minutes ago around 8:34 EDT? I thought she went over the ledge. Could have been an adult. But I did hear her so maybe she is just down one floor or got to the NW corner terrace.

I went back through the DVR and found this. I don't know if the time stamp coincides with your 8:34, but at 8:25, she is here:

Image

From there, she jumps down to the left ledge

Image

Parent lands and locates some leftovers...I can hear her screaming..

Image

Image

Parent takes some of the leftovers likes she's gonna leave with them, but leaves them on the roof, hops up on the ledge, then leaves

Image

I hear her screaming at 8:37 (based on the cam time stamp)...that's as far as I have gotten.

8:40 she returns to the ledge....walks toward the box, turns around and comes back. I REALLY had to lighten these.

Image

Image

Image

Jumps back up to the other ledge

Image

As best as I could tell, she made it

Image

She didn't stay long and around 8:42, jumps back down on the ledge and walks toward the box.

8:43/44 she trots down the ledge, toward the box. Somebody is on the cam as they are tracking her. I checked the box cam to see if she went there, but nope..

8:48/8:49..and she's still walking the ledge...in/out of view. Its really dark now...so, I'm quitting.

Hopefully she settles down...that is as far as I made it on the DVR...

Hopefully I'll get down later today. If I go now I won't see anything in the rain and fog. There is a great view from the parking garage seventh floor across the way and a couple of blocks to the north if security lets me stay there.

According to chat, approx. 1:37pm, Noisy Nellie ate a foot that was banded with a red band... rewound and had a look, couldn't read it (pigeon or some kind of song bird?).

2:25pm, she's still on the ledge on the left, frequently hiding... (and loud!) :15heartbeat:

Bonbon...hope she coughs up that band in a pellet. Yikes!

Anyway, here's our girl. 40 days old today. She seems partial to this particular ledge. If you follow the ledge at the bottom of the pic to the right, it leads to the nest box. I've been watching her for the past hour and she is fascinated by small private airplanes that fly overhead...tracking them with a look of curiosity. It is now 6:15 pm and she is still in the same spot.

I think she is tracking or scanning for one of the adults. They are not feeding her as much, so she is starving, LOL. Not really. They are getting her ready to fly. That side of the building has the most shade and the wind is from the NW, so it is cooler there.

JC No sights or sounds of the eyas on 101 Hudson. I walked all the way around the building and checked nearby buildings as best I could. Adults were on the building, one on south side near west corner at the 37th floor. Another adult was on Athena's post on the north side middle of the 38th floor on the east pipe.

There is new construction on the south side of 101 Hudson. If she got into that it could be problematic. The wind was WSW at 8 mph yesterday, so I would think she would be blown to the northwest if she stayed on the west side of the building. Unfortunately, that is the side that has caused the most agony for young falcons. They go into the windows of the 10 story building across Greene St.

Thanks Bonnie for the reports. I appreciate you making the trip down there to check on her. I hope she's OK. At 42 days old today, she should have been ready to go.

She was definitely wanting to go yesterday. And she looked quite strong for only a couple of days out of the scrape. But it was far too quiet during the hour and a half I was there this morning.

She is still screaming and I am seeing lots of feathers flying about. A parent may be prepping prey for her lunch. She can't be too far away from the nest.

JC You all don't know how relieved I am that you heard her. Guess I'm sticking to my Monday plan. We should know later if she fledged yesterday or today. Both adults were quite calm this morning. Maybe they were glad she had worn herself out somehow.

I'm slowly going through the DVR this morning...hopefully I'll hear/see her. I did check late afternoon on Sunday and while I never "saw" her, I did hear her..I should have made note of the time, but I think it was laer than Nadia's post!!
