Just some random pics since they are going to be gone soon..

At one point, I could account for all 4 at the same time.

2 in the box, 1 on the perch, 1 on the roof.

I just liked the shadow

Question of the morning. Was this a fledge or just a fly down from the roof to the perch. You've got 2 in the box, 1 on the roof, 1 on the perch.

I would have like to have seen the "leap" to the top of the box.

They've been getting up there for a few days now. Unfortunately, the leap UP to the roof of the box is usually out of cam view..depending on the time of day, sometimes you can see the shadow of one going up...and then a tail will appear over the roof edge.

I went through the DVR, and "we" still had 2 about 2 hrs ago...food brought them together.

I'm only seeing one on cam now. I'd have to go through the DVR more carefully to figure out where #2 went.

:dancegirl: Thankyou, SGB! Just now we have a juvie hanging out on the perch. Seems to be watching someone zooming around..15 minutes later... two in the nest. then one jumps on the perch and the other seems ready to nap in the box. Perch juvie decided that a nap was a good idea and he/she jumped into the nest box. Then a third juvie arrives with a swoosh, go directly into the box, and lays down too. Nice and shady in the nestbox, I guess...

WEll, I went all through the DVR and no sign of the kids...not even shadows or tails hanging over the box...and when parents started showing up and nobody came to harass them, then I figured they were either all gone or somewhere on the roof where they couldn't see parents arrive.

Dad stayed for quite a while...later to be joined briefly by Mom...he eventually came back...Box is empty now.

Something strange going on this morning...could be nothing or could be we have a sick kid...not sure.

Dad comes in. The blob you see in the box is the chick

Image

Dad's looking for left overs. The chick stays where it is..

Image

Dad leaves...but comes back..He may have brought food with him (I couldn't find that part) or it may have already been in the box. Dad tries to feed the chick, but it refuses food.

Image

Image

Dad leaves with the food

Image

Image

Dad comes back again to check on the baby

Image

Finally leaves the box..

Image

The baby seems quite lethargic for this time of day. It should be flapping and bouncing around..

He/she was kind enough to pose in front of the cam. At least in this pic, eyes appear clear with no discharge from mouth or nose. However, feathers are disheveled, especially in the neck area...could be the cam. There did appear to be a slight wind as I could see fluttering feathers in the right wing area (not the neck area)..and he/she had a slight "sway".

The chick is back in the box, lying down...it should be on the porch, flapping or at least enjoying the morning sun. (current temp: 64 F, 18 C)

I emailed a rehab or in the South Bend area to see if she was aware of anything going on with one of the chicks. I will let you know if and when I hear anything.

Thanks gigi...

The little one made a brief visit to the ledge..and then maybe to the perch? Don't know...but is now back in the box, bottom left corner..

Thanks for checking in, Bev. I know Arles is monitoring too..Hopefully its nothing but my imagination.

From what I observed, this chick is limping on its left leg. Band number is A/38.

I agree.

Before entering the nestbox it is hesitating and then it steps cautious
into the box.
No running/walking around or exploring the nestbox.
At 9.10AM I thougt I saw her/him limping for the first time.
Right leg first and then limping with the left leg before jumping
into the nestbox.

Thanks for checking in Arles and VLU (good job reading the band!!) A/38 makes it one of the females.

I did a quick DVR check..(I mean quick..but didn't see a food drop or any other kid drop by)

I'm glad to at least see it up on the porch, but it still doesn't look like its feeling very good. I wish there would at least be a food drop so that we could see if she will eat..even a sibling visit to see how they interact..

Recorded this a few minutes ago.
