Thanks for the pictures Loza and Nancy. Pretty sure that was Red, and she flew off a couple minutes ago. It's been spitting rain off and on all morning here.

I must have spent 30 minutes waiting for her to display her band, but she wouldn't do it.

I know what you mean, Nancy. Red eventually went into the scrape, and is now parked on the shield. She's been there for well over an hour. And by the time I entered this message, Red sacked out next to the stick.

FALCONWIRE UPDATE:

6/27/2018 :: Falcon update
DEP's Environmental Education staff have routinely been able to observe three of the four young falcons including Red, Blue, and Yellow. It now appears that they have been able to catch prey and return to the Rachel Carson State Office Building to consume it. Unfortunately, that's not the case with the youngest, smallest, and least developed male falcon banded as "White." White struggled with fledging and had to be rescued twice but, after some time, was observed flying to and from the tallest buildings in downtown Harrisburg. White has not been observed since mid-June. After discussing this with the biologist, it is possible White dispersed early. It is possible through observations of known peregrine falcon nesting sites that White may be identified at a later date through his leg bands.

One of the girls has been at various places on the ledge for about an hour, although it might not be the same one that was there a while ago. Am thinking it's Blue on the point right now, but am having trouble seeing the tape.

Dispersed early? Doubtful. I hope that somebody sees him soon, I fear the worst.

Red and Blue were just at the end of the ledge, and Niecey was on the stick. Now only one juvie there, and not sure which one. It is 90 degrees here, and is to be even hotter tomorrow and Sunday. Flirting with triple digits. Mercifully there is a slight breeze today and not overly humid.

I too hope for the best for White.
But, I am reminded of the story in Winnipeg when the female fledge and mother went missing after 3 days. That fledge is Radisson at the U of A in Edmonton and Mom is Princess at the Radisson in Winnipeg. Both are still with us.

Red and Blue have been at the end of the ledge for quite some time. Blue left briefly, but is back now. And Yellow is on the stick. It really is heartbreaking about White. Those of us on fledge watch spent a good day and a half watching over him. Once they can fly well, all we can do is hope that they stay safe. I am still hoping for a miracle, but honestly not expecting one.

Might be speaking too soon, but it appears that two juvies might spend the night at the end of the ledge. I know one of them is Red, but not sure about the other one. Red has been there for quite some time. And Red is gone, but not the other juvie. Not sure what's going on over at the bus part of the train station. A bunch of flashing lights.

That was a good outcome for sure.

There are two VERY hot juvies on the ledge right now. I THINK it's Blue by the orange post, but not sure about the one on the point. Official high temperature here today was 95. More of the same coming tomorrow.

This is the first time I've seen the adults on the ledge in a while. Niecey in the scrape, and Little Dad on the point. It's 97 degrees here right now - BRUTAL.

Pretty sure it was Yellow on the point about half an hour ago. He stayed a while but is gone now. Niecey is on the stick. Maybe it's time for her to kick the juvies out. Am hoping to get downtown one night soon to see them again before they leave, but cannot tolerate this heat for very long. It has now cooled off to 95.

Saw a falcon on the stick around 5:30, but it flew before I could tell if it was an adult or juvie. Around 7 there was a juvie near the orange post. Never could figure that one out, either. Am now seeing a falcon over on the roof of the U Building. Today was another scorcher.

Niecey arrived in the scrape a bit ago and is busy preening.

Am seeing one VERY wet juvie on the ledge near the stick right now. Can't tell which one, but it might be Blue. Harrisburg's fireworks are supposed to be tonight, but might get rained out. And poof - the juvie is gone.

A juvie has been sitting on the ledge for quite some time. She was there when I first tuned in about half an hour ago. I THINK it's Blue. And about a minute after I entered this message, she flew over toward the U roof, but kept going.
