He seems more settled now. Insects are starting up, hope they are not as bad tonight as last night. He had to shake his head every 1-3 seconds!

:taz: Samson threw his wings out, I think another bird is bothering him!! In the alert position!!
I hear an owl at 9:17!! Samson is on the nest.
9:19 He's slightly hunkered down now! No word from AEF Mod as yet...
9:20 He is lying on the nest now. Good boy, Samson ... at least he can't knock you off a limb ... stay low!
9:22 Standing up now ...
9:24 Back to lying on the nest ... hope he stays in this position the rest of the night ...

Sep 8, 8:24 PM
jd_AEF (Moderator): Just when we thought all was peaceful, a barred owl is heard very close by and Samson is on alert...he moves to the nest.

9:30 I heard an odd vocal from Samson as I was copying a video of the event ... going back in, I found him on a branch.

The video of the event is by scyllabub.

9:42 I just noticed the DVR is back, so you can still see the event! He remains on a branch that jd Id'd as the sunset branch, I believe.
10:02 Heard him hop back down to the nest.
10:05 He is lying on the nest as I take a break for awhile.

Don't miss the last 40 seconds of this video of Samson from this morning! We may need to get him a safety net! He's okay as you can see him flying away at the end. Video is by scyllabub:

jd_AEF (Moderator): Victoria has sent us another beautiful creation...thank you Victoria! "Many of us are aching to see Romeo and Juliet return. It’s been on our minds and in our hearts for close to nine months. It is still unknown where they are and how they are, but we still remain hopeful. Samson has been our “Saving Grace”. It is very possible we will witness the unprecedented “Circle of Life” in the Hamlet. Should that be, we will consider that a gift, as we trust the unknown. "

From sharipf_AEF answering a couple questions on HDontap chat this eve as to how they ID Samson and if one of the females that visited last season was named Magenta:

Samson is an offspring of Romeo and Juliet from the 2013 - 2014 season. When he was just under 2 weeks of age, Juliet accidentally stepped on his right foot and it appears that it flattened the middle toe of that foot. As the toes are soft tissue, the "damage" remained - the toe is still flattened but it does not affect his abilities in any way. This is one of his main ID markers. That, and the spot on the top of his head. It also appears that he is developing darker feathers on the nape of his neck similar to Juliet. "Magenta" is a name someone on HD here gave to A2 but it is an unofficial name used only by this group. AEF has dubbed last year's female that hung around for a long time with Samson as A2. She would be given a real name this fall if she returns and she and Samson have a family' however, she has not been seen yet since mid May.

:7val: Sep 11, 7:30 PM
gretchen_AEF (Admin): OMGOSH. . .your ground crew is stoked!! When Samson flew from the nest tonight, he was headed in the LYT direction. Sure enough when we got over there he was perched in a pine. He soon circled, and we heard vocals and then more vocals. They were familiar welcomng vocals. We can't confirm, as it was getting dark, and they were tucked within the pine trees, but Glenn thought one vocal sounded like A2, as he heard several months ago when they arrived there. (continued)
Sep 11, 7:36 PM
:7val: gretchen_AEF (Admin): Let's hope they arrive at the nest in the morning (whomever Samson's buddy is). There's a big moon out tonight, so our rascal Samson could fly. But unlikely while he has a buddy close by. What a joy to finally tuck two eagles. . .not at the nest but in the Hamlet! SED to all

:7val: Please, please, please be A2!! :7val:

They are saying not A2 or Mystery Lady of the female on the nest this morning ...

Sep 12, 6:12 AM
gretchen_AEF (Admin): Samson and female arrived at the nest this morning approx 6:50am. They moved some nest material and Samson soon flew off. The female doesn't appear to be A2 but remains a mystery. Doesn't seem to be the eagle from last week. She is at ease on LOP.
Sep 12, 6:19 AM
leigh_AEF (Moderator): Good morning! Of she goes at 7:17. Please come back!

Edit to add: This is a screen capture of the female on the nest this morning by Ella Wigginton:

Many viewers are indicating this is A2 from markings and sound and some mods, I think are leaning this way, but they want to be sure ...

 And here we go:

Sep 12, 10:38 AM
gretchen_AEF (Admin): After studying pics and observing behavior, we are cautiously optimistic that today's visitor is A2 returning home to the nest! Faded racing stripe markings by the eyes, distinct ridge over eye, dark spot on beak, big feet, not sharing her fish with Samson, and oh, yes, those ever unique A2 vocals!

And this is the only video with a snippet of her vocals that I can find so far, the return vocals are Samson who is on a branch, but not seen:

:thanku Loza. Love the video. They confirm that it is A2. She returned from summer vacation with a slightly different look since molting, but her eyeshadow is still faintly there. Samson seems smitten, as he watches her every move with head cocks. So sweet. I suspect she will stay. She is a big girl and held this turf despite all the chaos last spring. How nice it would be to have Samson continue the legacy of his parents at his natal nest. Talons crossed that all goes well for the happy couple.

:15heartbeat: A2 has returned and is currently on the tree!

Edit to add: I have sound on cam 2, although not in sync. Previously was only 4K cam with sound and was to be this way till October 1st.

Edit to add: :15heartbeat: Samson is also here on a branch, nearby. All cams have sound currently! The DVR is working on 4K cam only.

Both flew off the nest at 7:31!

sharipf_AEF: Some folks have rewind and sound on all four cams. Some folks did and then lost it. Some don't have rewind at all. The techs just added the sound to all four cams about 30 minutes ago and there are more than likely some things that have to be tweaked before the all clear sign is given. Please stay patient as one change probably affects other parts of the cams - it is being worked on as we speak and they may have some things to do yet. With a world wide audience there is never a "down time" to do any kind of maintenance without it affecting someone! The goal is to have all the glitches out and everything running smoothly by October 1st and hopefully sooner!
