:15heartbeat: I am not sure if posting this in the right location, but saw on chat earlier tonight at The Hamlet from Conner_AEF (Admin) and a video on AEF FB. I am doing this from memory. It is in regards to Mrs. Jefferson and Isaiah. Mrs. Jefferson remains under the care of AEF and has been diagnosed with glaucoma in her only sighted eye. She will require eye drop medication twice a day for the rest of her life. The pressure in that eye has responded to the eye drops. So she will have to remain under their care. Currently, she is in an outdoor enclosure, but they hope to have her in the barn in the future. This has meant the permanent separation of Isaiah and Mrs. Jefferson due to safety concerns of the birds and the staff in administering those drops, etc. Isaiah was moved to the Pick-a-Mate (PAM) and within hours was adjusting better than they thought he would. I believe they reported Isaiah was born in 1988 and Mrs. Jefferson in 1989, so they are 31 and 30 years old. I know they have been together a long time, but am unsure of how long. It was reported by another AEF mod that eagles can live to be about 50 years old in captivity and 30 in the wild. I was totally unaware they could live to be 50 in captivity, but knew it would be longer than in the wild. I believe I have read of a 35-ish year old that happened to be banded and lived and died in the wild.

Thanks for this update, Jean. This is the correct topic for Pigeon Forge, TN Nests that are located inside the "Eagle Mountain Sanctuary" aviary exhibit on the Dollywood family adventure park.

I'll make a note on Page 1 of this topic and that Isaiah has been moved to P.A.M. enclosure.

Sure do appreciate all of the info you share! :flirty:

Davis, a new female at Dollywood in the Pick-a-Mate enclosure!

**Dollywood ~ American Eagle Foundation @ Eagle Mountain Sanctuary:
AEF Website: AEF FB page
Single cam with various views
Nest 1: "Pick-a-Mate" - Isaiah and "Davis"
Davis is an adult female bald eagle who is non-releasable due to a severe left wing injury which causes it to droop. Davis was found with the injured wing in Nashville, TN and was taken to a rehab center. After it was determined the injury could not be healed, AEF offered to provide the eagle a forever home.

They had bad storms yesterday so I am glad the eagles are okay. My brother in Phoenix had such strong winds that 2 trees fell on his house in the early morning. Lots of damage.
