We might get an egg soon. In 2019 she laid her first egg on January 8 and 2018 on January 3. Thanks for keeping an eye on this nest!

:flirty: Yes I am aware she normally does after the 1st of the year. I was hoping she might go earlier this year, but I guess not. With her it is a little harder to tell some s/s as she has been sleeping on the nest at night for weeks and weeks at intervals d/t her old injury I guess. I am concerned some as she struggles at times with balance in certain situations as "true to form" the old injury has angled out more from last season and it is also capable of a hook-like action which might not be good for chicks. Hoping it is not as wet this season too, but that does not look promising so far. Just hoping for the best possible outcome here. They are great parents!! A little bit ago, I saw Pa lying in the bowl watching Ma try to gulp down the pelt. Both of them left, but Ma back at 6:05 to spend the night.

:7val: Pa in at 7:28 and they adjust the nesting material a little. She flew at 7:31 as did Pa a couple minutes later. Pa returned with a stick to place at 7:42! He hopped to the left branch and flew at 7:46.

:15heartbeat: At 6:54, Pa arrives to the nest. He does a little aeration, stands looking around awhile, then back to aeration as I leave.

:15heartbeat: Ma just came in with a fluff delivery! She's soaked!!
She flew at 10:50.
Pa in at 11:37 with dry fluff for the bowl! Wonder where he found that hidden from the rains? He stopped working as he has found a morsel of food in the rails. He polished that off and I don't know if some old, wet, dark fluff with a small stick got caught in his beak with the last pull up for the morsel, but he just flew with those items hanging from his beak at 11:38, out the back of the nest!

:1val: Pa in at 11:47 with a squirrel! Ma saw him with it and flies in from the back woods in less than a minute after his arrival to claim it. Only thing, she just stands beside it until 12:57 when she becomes very vocal while watching something and suddenly Pa appears on the nest with a fresh pelt that she grabs and swallows whole immediately!! Pa went to work on the bowl for awhile. He jumped to the left branch at 1:06, then flew. She continued to stand by the squirrel til Pa came back with a stick to place (he caught it in her back 1st) at 1:39 and finally after a couple minutes she decides to eat the squirrel! He flew at 1:48.

:1val: Ma and Pa currently on the nest. He's doing some clean up from the prey while she softly voices her disapproval from the rear of the nest!

:1snowman: Pa just landed on the nest with a squirrel, Ma shouldn't be far behind. Both were in earlier this morning. And Ma left awhile ago. And maybe not ... went back in and Pa is tearing that squirrel up!!
