One chick in the box, looks tired. Don't see the other two but they could be on the other side of the column or our flying, or even behind the box .

Hope everybody is ok.

So I just went to the falcon wire. Evidently, the female that fledged ended up on the ground around 8pm and was rescued , treated for mites, and will be kept and observed for a few days in case of concussion. The male is flying well, so that means the chick in the box has not fledged yet.

White Foot still hasn't tried his wings. I'm home very briefly before heading back downtown. Around 12:30 this afternoon Little Yellow Foot was sitting on the camera perch. I saw him fly up there and thought it was one of the adults until I spotted both of them at other places.

:1val: It's a lonely ledge tonight ... All have fledged! From the "Falcon Wire":

6/2/2020 :: Watch and Rescue Update
Following the rescue performed late Sunday, Falcon Watch and Rescue for the past two days was initially uneventful. The falcon that first fledged is flying beautifully as his landings improve. It won't be long before this falcon starts to successfully take prey on its own. Today, it barely missed a very "lucky" mourning dove.
The second bird that fledged is still at the rehabilitator. Red Creek Wildlife Center enjoys a well-earned reputation as a quality wildlife rehabilitator, and since they suggest that this particular falcon will benefit from some additional recuperation time, that is course DEP is following. The primary concern surrounds the concussion this bird suffered. At last report, this falcon is in good physical health and we anticipate it will be ready for release in another day or so.
That leaves the third young falcon, which finally fledged today at 3:15 pm! Though the flight to the top of Harrisburg University was a short one, it was far from graceful. Fortunately, it is in a safe location and was even joined by the other fledgling! :eggthumb:

Oh my gosh Jane, that's an amazing feat. Glad you were able to see it report it.

Thanks.

So, all are out of the nest now. Hoping all goes well with these sweet little falcons.

Little White Foot made a short flight this morning to the roof of the auditorium in front of the Carson Building. He stayed there a while and flew across to a smaller ledge also in front of the building. A thunderstorm came along, and he got thoroughly soaked as we watched him from an overhang in front of the building. He then hopped over to a gray stone section at the entrance to the building, and that's where we had to leave him for the night. He seems a little reluctant to fly. Little Yellow Foot continues to make impressive flights. Several of us have been down there watching from 6 in the morning until 8:30 every night for a week. We are exhausted, but will be back there in the morning.

I'll pass the kind words from several of you along to those on our watch crew that don't read this forum. I see you caught little Yellow Foot in the scrape earlier today, Terka. There is a lengthy report on the status of the other two juvies in the Falcon Wire section of the DEP web site. I need to look up the address for Red Creek where these two currently are of anyone who might want to make a donation. Red Creek is an OUTSTANDING facility operation chiefly on donations.

Here is some information about Red Creek for anyone who would like to make a donation. Address is Red Creek Wildlife Center, 300 Moon Hill Drive, Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972. Their web site is redcreekwildlifecenter.com. It is very easy to make a donation through the web site using a credit card.

Just caught Yellow Foot on the point busy preening. This morning he was having a snooze in the shadow of the orange post. For now he is getting all the attention of the adults.

Thanks Jane for the info. I made a donation 2 or 3 years ago when they helped another Harrisburg juvie and always meant to make it a regular thing, but didn't do it. Will make a donation now. It's so wonderful to know that our babies have a nice place to go for rehab.

Thanks for making a donation, ljames. Red Creek is a WONDERFUL facility. They're about 45 minutes from Harrisburg. Am seeing Yellow Foot on the end of the ledge busy preening on this beautiful Sunday.

These two are upset. Maybe they are putting the chicks back.
Poor Lil' Dad has had to duck several times to keep Niecey from knocking him off the stick. Maybe they are releasing them on the roof. But they are watching the bad door.

Boy they are all upset.

Well whatever is going on, hope the pull it off without incident.

6/8/2020 :: Falcon Update: Second Release
At 1:15 pm today, the second fledgling that was rehabbing at Red Creek was released at the Rachel Carson State Office Building (RCSOB). This young female was given a clean bill of health and has clearly improved her flying skills. She is the largest of the three fledglings and was quite aggressive during the release. The release does agitate the adults, we suspect they will settle down as the afternoon progresses.
That leaves one falcon fledgling still at the rehabilitators. This specific falcon was not flying well and fledged late. It appears that it is underdeveloped. Therefore, it has been determined to continue the rehabilitation efforts with the hope of conducting a release in Harrisburg when this falcon is deemed ready.
