Is it possible the fight was NB7 - not Nova - with Nina?
and Nova moved on with all the competition.

nothing really makes sense to me

Nova has not been seen on cam since March 9 - after the fight.
The only female now is NB7 and Newman mates a lot - what a Romeo!

There was a MOUSE in the nestbox this morning! EEK!
NB shuda hada snack!

We know Newman has mated with Nova,
but I dont see any images of Nova inside the box except the March 9 fight. Nova not seen since.

Juvie - 02/25
Nova - 02/25 - mated on cam
66/N - 02/27

Lisa 53/W - 03/04
Amhran 92/X - 03/05
Nina M/04 - 03/07

Current is UB7 - the 7th female of 2021
Newman has mated with at least 3 on cam (oh you stud you!)

I scanned this thread because someone on Explore said the female inside with the male is her committment to raise his kids. Now, might Nova be sitting on a clutch somewhere in the cliffs?

The James River male is known to have serviced 2 nests some years ago.

Some of you ladies posted NICE photos without a NAME. :furious:

Did Newman get Nova inside the box this year?
After the owl attack last year, I wouldnt expect her to use it again.

Perhaps that juvie doesnt care, she just wants to be fed
This should prove interesting

Nova lays her 3 eggs
UBF lays 3 eggs
Newman could need to feed 8 - 6 kids and 2 ( wives? )

They look like 2 different birds - BUT - I am THE WORST because I cant even tell male from female! Lighting can make a big difference. I just wish Nova had a clutch of eggs under there.

It is not possible for falcons for two females to lay eggs so close together. These birds are territorial.

lighting changes everything. the female I see at box all the time is not banded and she has whitish marks on head, like fluff. she is a lighter colored . I will go through tapes and see what I can see. I am no authority, but I have only seen on e unbanded falcon.

Female: Zooey (unbanded 2 y/o falcon)

Newman courted several females this year, but it appears that he will be nesting with Zooey. Former resident female Nova disappeared after her battle with Nina on March 9,

Nova laid 2020’s first egg on March 26 @ 8:19 AM CDT

I dont know if RRP misspelled Zoe or if they mean zooey cuz 2021's been such a zoo! :biggrin:

O yeah! Newman takes every opportunity to fertilize - and then some!
Newman mated with at least 3 females

There is a 3rd falcon in the area.
March 27 I saw Newman flying up n down kakking like crazy
March 28 Nora (RRP) said there's a 3rd falcon around
