Just saw an egg duty exchange at Toledo… Female comes in and is greeted with a shower of chips and chups . Out he goes and she settles upon her eggs…

Toledo- I’m watching mama fidget all over the place, and just now I could have sworn I saw a pip on one egg. I can only get this nest on my phone, which makes viewing difficult…..On Facebook, the moderator said she thought she could hear little peeps……

Holy cow- am I hearing a couple chicks? Noisy little rowdies! …I’m guessing, but I think dad is out on the porch, unseen by me. He is chipping excitedly because he heard his chicks. Chipping on and on and on….Meanwhile mom wants to keep the kids warm on this cold morning….She is giving that “old rusty gate” noise…Well there was an exchange but only thing white I know for sure I saw was the old white egg….

I agree, Tsusan....very noisy chicks...sounds like at least 2...probably still in the eggs...impossible to tell anything else right now.

This is what Toledo has to say about it:

Well, this isn’t good. One hatchling accidentally got pushed a distance from the rest of the brood, with an egg suffering the same way. Adult keeps trying to rectify the trouble, but we need the other adult to get back to the nest. Inexperience? It’s hard to believe that the protective instinct isn’t kicking in more fully as the chick’s vocalizations continue.

maybe got accidentally pushed in a shuffling of eggs. . I was just there,and no chick was there. I think maybe an egg hatching and parent does not want ot get up. hoping it gets over there soon. maybe other adult will

Might be an inexperienced Mom. Remember, Red Girl threw her chick up in the air when it first hatched. After that, she was a great Mom.
