that is weird because they have bars to keep raven out.

Thanks kindly Carly for sharing this a very interesting read indeed. We've so many different life stories going on with these Peregrine families I find always exciting. :thumbup

This is the Gord, I am always talking about, and he is oneof our falcon gurus. If you need an answer, ask him.

I knew he was in Red Deer, giving a talk but I did not know till I saw it on the red deer site that there had been a fight. I am glad she is O.K. becasue she was born along the river and I know they would like to get them back there. Maybe when she is released she will try but I somehow think she will try and reclaim her box next year

thanks Carly.

I finally found the Red Deer picutres

They will just give you an idea for the area around .
Just across from nest box to south of it is a nice quiet residential cul-de-sac, to the north of it is all treed and a quiet green space, and to east is another quiet residential.
so it is a very nice site.

But we saw lots of ravens and so that is probably where eggs went. I guess the bars will not kep ravens out. they probably will not nest inside with bars but can get inside and someone told me , they had been off them at times for as long as 15 minutes,so....
You can see there is a nice platform for them to flapercize on

So light standard is south of box

Very nice site! I've wondered why they don't use more cell phone towers. So many choices that seem better than urban settings and bridges.

bev, thanks for those pics of the Red Deer nest location. Agreed that these towers make great spots for falcon nests.

I agree, Bev. The Port Colborne nest always seems to have been a contentious one. I'm not even sure whether Treasure is definitely still the resident female there - but I very much hope so.

Burlington

The male chick at this nest, Brant, almost fledged early (and backwards), but luckily was able to scramble back into the nest box.

Good grief, SGB, how to you manage to see these things? I was there looking right after Edmonton and didn't see a thing that indicated a chick.
