Yes, let's hear it for Susan who's now an official falconhead. That must have been something getting dive-bombed by KathyQ!

Tonight I have a heavy heart. As you all know, the Peregrine Patrol has only seen one of the two males for some time now. Today Coach was confirmed sitting on one of the corners of Market Tower. I am so happy for him, but sad that little Hatton must be the MIA bird. Hatton was the one that I was so privileged to hold on banding day and then later retrieve from Animal Control after being found on the ground following a storm. Additionally, Hatton was named for Liz and Chris Hatton. They are the wonderful folks who run the bird rescue where I volunteer.

Hatton, may you soar with the angels little one, and guide your brother Coach and sisters Geneva and Maxie safely in the skies. God Speed.

Oh No, gigi...I am just so sad to hear that!! Its so hard to lose one, but to lose the one you held in your hands must be heart breaking...I know that it is wishful thinking, but I will hold out hope that he'll be found... :sosad

and is just doing a great job of spreading his wings farther away than the others

I received a call from the Hattons today to take a look inside a warehouse on the near westside. The workers thought they had two falcons inside and one of them could be our missing Hatton. So of course I was thrilled to go, crossing my fingers that maybe this was Hatton with an adult.

Unfortunately, the bird I saw turned out to be a kestrel, sitting on top of stacks of materials being stored. The kestrel was quite content and just needs to figure out how to leave the building. No attempt was made to capture him or the other one that I did not see.

The workers were going to leave a skylight open with the hopes that he and his buddy would make their great escape tonight. I left a little disappointed that it was not our missing Hatton, but thankful that members of the public are on the lookout and trying to help.

I'm so sorry to hear that the missing falcon is Hatton Gigi. Kestrels do look a lot like falcons, and its really nice that people are aware and thoughtful enough to call. Glad they have an escape route.

SGB, I think you got Kinney there, but I did read on the blog that earlier today at around 1 p.m. one of the biggie juvie girls was on the perch.

Sorry about the false alarm, gigi, but you still did a great service to those kestrels. Thanks for that.

Hey SGB, you were right about it being a juvie on the perch yesterday in your 4:12 p.m. post. I just read on the blog that a watcher was downtown and confirmed it. Apparently, Kathy and Kinney were NOT very happy about it and were trying to chase it off, but it stayed for close to 3 hours!
