Scott Banks kindly added a link to BCAW on the Orange website.

Here is an excerpt from an email I received from him today;

"Our current fundraising efforts are going towards upgraded cameras and being able to stream them live out on to the web. It will be fantastic to join the world's webcams so we're hopeful we'll be there soon!!"

Thank you, Mick! I noticed in a previous post that they had posted the link for another forum & was thinking that it would be nice if BCAW's link was posted, too! Guess you took care of that! :dancing3:

I'm glad to hear that they are still trying to get a live webcam up!

Solo is looking good, although maybe a little bored.

Too bad no siblings for her to play with. It makes me a little nervous too when she's standing near that door.

I love those wings and tail . :flirty:

The developing peregrine chick
Posted on 05-11-2010
Solo is taking on an all-over covering of first feathers now and none too soon with
only about 10-12 days before fledging (so feathers will be quite handy!).

Image
The developing 30 day old peregrine chick
Lots more time today spent trotting around the eyrie, picking at feathers,
and leaning out towards the ledge. As with the 3 chicks in the much smaller box
last year this next week or so will be anxious times for us ‘step-grandparents’
watching the chick get closer to the edge of the ledge, becoming more daring with
space and height, and preparing to take on gravity shortly.

The cotton-wool backpack is disappearing
Posted on 08-11-2010
Solo is developing in to a more recognisable peregrine falcon now, on day 34,
and the familiar cotton-wool backpack is being replaced with an attractive array
of deep grey/blue feathers but there’s still that element of “awkward teenager” to
contend with!

Image

34th day feathered attire for Solo
Still plenty of time for sleeping and lazing around with either attentive parent on the
ledge in regular attendance, with Swift maintaining an all-day vigil around the corner
on the microwave dish arm the other day; no doubt a few hours break from
the nagging, but an ideal location for some sun
(see General Gallery #6 for photo, to the right).

THANKS KITTEN.
On Friday Carly posted a question asking if there would be a fledge watch (good question).
Scott's reply;

"Hi Carly,
As soon as it looks like Solo wants to go we’ll be maintaining a vigil around the foot of the tower. Last year our 2nd male to leave flew off a day too early for himself and was found floundering around in the gardens below, so we had to bundle him up, climb the tower and return him to the eyrie where he joined the female! He tried it the following day but this time was successful in making it into the trees, with his sister. We hope that mishap won’t happen again…
Scott"

Thanks for the updates Kitten and Mick ... Carly did have a good question.
Susan is right - I just love Scott's Australia way with words (cotton-wool backpack!)

Thanks for posting those videos, Susan! Too bad Solo doesn't have a ledge to play on, but one does what one can. Can you imagine 3 big girls exercising their wings in there? :o

Wow, what nice videos of Solo. She is on the move, learning what she can do with everything. Yeah a perch or platform would be great, with a camera there to capture the action.

So glad everybody will be on watch when Solo does leave the nest. These guys are great!
