I watched an interesting documentary on PBS the other night, "The Polio Crusade" and it inspired me in several ways. I was impressed by the way the entire nation came together during the depression to eradicate this terrible disease.

Using a play on words "March of Time", a popular radio and newsreel series, the term March of Dimes was coined. “The March of Dimes will enable all persons, even the children, to show our President that they are with him in this battle against this disease. Nearly everyone can send in a dime, or several dimes. However, it takes only ten dimes to make a dollar and if a million people send only one dime, the total will be $100,000.”

The campaign was hugely successful and the money was used to develop a vaccine and to fund treatment for those already inflicted with polio. You may draw similarities to polio and our current Covid pandemic, but that is not the point I want to make.

BCAW wants to continue but we can only do so if we have funding. I thank all members who have donated!
Moderators do their part both in donating money, but especially with the many hours spent maintaining the site. We need you, our members, to do the rest to reach our goal of $325 to cover costs for 2 years.

It does not take huge donations, but many small ones - just like the March of Dimes campaign! We have collected $200 to net $190.89 after fees ( 2.9% + $.30 flat fee per transaction). Below is a chart showing what a small donation to a larger donation can do:

Fee schedule for USA donations. International slightly more and I just accept what PayPal tells me!

Please help us keep Bird Cams Around the World going with your donations. Large or small, we accept them all!
:thankyou

Thank you!
:thankyou
We reached and exceeded our goal to fund 2 years of Bird Cams Around the World!

After fees, we raised

$386.92

which comfortably leaves us with an ample rainy day fund
and/or a big head start for 2024!

Thank you to all who answered the call for donations,
but mostly for making BCAW the best place to share
knowledge, stories, pictures of the world's wildlife.
:thanku

This is normally the time of year when BCAW extends its talon to ask for donations.
BUT
last year our most generous members donated enough to keep us going until 2023.
:thanku
for allowing us to enjoy another year of sharing wildlife in many forms with one another.
See you next year!!!

Good Morning, faithful and loyal BCAW supporters.

On
July 21, BCAW will either cease to exist or we will renew for another year or two with our hosting company, ACENET.

We are all busy, membership has dwindled, and individual interest levels vary from person to person. Combine all of that with the number of nests now available to watch and an increase in social media and maintaining a quality forum becomes challenging. Its hard for me to believe that BCAW was birthed in August, 2009!!

Are Forums such as ours...and others, such as RRP, Rochester, and some European forums...obsolete? Probably..

...but, after discussion with all the Moderators, we are not quite ready to "fade away" and throw in the towel...so, we will begin a donation campaign..probably next week.

Stay tune for details!!

...and thanks so much for staying with us all these years!! What a community we have become.

I still enjoy this forum. And I will donate. I know the world changes, but this is my go to place.
I had to pull back this year and will not be as visible for a few months( medical stuff) but I do prefer this to Fb

Facebook is ok, but I to go BCAW where conversations take place on individual nests is the way for me to go, especially during nesting season! :10sum:

The BCAW Bank will soon be OPEN for business.

July 11, 2023.
:thanku

The info below pertains to donating for the next year and beyond!

**********************************************************************

PayPal changed their method of sending money soooo...
We are working on the codes to embed at the bottom of each page
so please bear with us.

In the meantime, please click here to donate!

You will see this:
Image

Click the Send button which takes you to this page.

Image
Enter amount & other details requested
(Please enter your BCAW name & "Donation" in "What's this payment for?")

You choose the amount & method of payment.
BCAW reaps the benefits!!
It's as simple as that.

Don't have a PayPal account?
I think you can still make a donation through the BCAW PayPal Site
& use your credit card [VISA, MC, AMEX, Discover] or bank account (where available).

Our goal is to raise only enough money to pay the annual fees for two years for the BCAW web hosting site and domain name.
We will announce when we have reached that goal.
Extra monies would also provide us with a rainy-day reserve in case we need to purchase extra software, more disk space, etc.

Donations are completely voluntary & confidential and are NOT tax deductible.
We would like to emphasize that we do not need a huge donation from any one individual to meet our goal of only covering expenses.
No member should feel as if they have to make a monetary donation in order to participate on the forum.
The greatest gifts to BCAW are discussion & sharing a love for nature.

BCAW remains THE PLACE for you to share your passion for not only Peregrine Falcons, but other raptors and animals too!

If you have any questions or want to donate using a method other than PayPal, please send me a private message (PM) or email me at peregrinefalcon.bcaw@gmail.com.

I am investigating WISE, an international service, so look for updates on that.

Thank you for your support!
Gigi

Yeah! As SGB once stated, it is the blind leading the blind. I have set up a new PayPal link but when I tested the link I was told I couldn't pay myself! GRRRR! So we are working on it. Another member mentioned an international app called WISE and I am checking that out too!

We appreciate all who want to support BCAW for another year!
