California Eagle Cam Links

Bald Canyon IWS
Nest location San Clemente Island.
Female: A-32 - 2004 Hatch from Alaska. Released on the Islands in 2004
Male: K-76 - 2007 hatch on the Islands

Big Bear Lake
Nest location Southern California near Big Bear Lake in the San Bernadino National Forest.
Info from Dr. Sharpe the NIW ecologist. (Shared by SWINWK)
"Unfortunately, the eagles don't determine when they lay. The previous female also laid between late December and late January, which in my opinion is about 2-3 months too early for the nest location. I think it is a weird problem related to being at a relatively low latitude in southern California, but at a high altitude. Nesting generally occurs earlier at low latitudes (November to December in Florida versus late-April through May in Alaska), but low latitudes generally don't have the high elevations, and thus cold weather conditions, found at Big Bear Lake.
It is only because of a man-made lakes that they are even able to breed in the local southern California mountains. It is hard to overcome the evolutionary control of the timing of reproduction."

Fraser Point, Santa Cruz Island CAM
Nest location Northwest point of Santa Cruz Island in Channel Island National Park
Female: A-49, Princess Cruz, hatched at the Pelican Harbor nest on Santa Cruz Island in 2006. She was the first known bald eagle to hatch on the Channel Islands since 1950

Previous: July 2021: Spirit A-64 found deceased. Mate: Cruz.
Institute for Wildlife Studies Mod • 7 hours ago
Unfortunately, a kayak guide found A-64 (aka Spirit) floating dead in the ocean on the eastern edge of the Fraser Point territory today. He said there was no obvious trauma. A-64, is Cruz's brother and hatched at the Pelican Harbor nest in 2008. He was knocked out of the nest by a subadult eagle and had a puncture in his beak. After being treated at a veterinarian, he was released back on Santa Cruz from a hacking tower. This pair has been breeding since 2012 and successfully raised 3 chicks at this nest in 2017.

Humboldt Bay IWS

Article from the LA Times about the Big Bear Eagles. I love the "bonding" picture they selected! :flirty:
The hottest 24/7 reality show in Southern California right now could be called “The Real Bald Eagles of Big Bear Lake.”

:penguin: Big Bear eagle nest is at the highest elevation of any known BE nests in the nation per mod:

"Our nest is built 110ft up in a 120ft Jeffrey Pine tree, 7000ft above sea level This is the highest known Bald Eagle in the US... and probably in the galaxy"
