:15heartbeat: Posting this for FYI. This is Cholyn of the Two Harbors nest (TH2) who is in her early twenties and currently caring for a chick recently hatched. It shows the state of her tailfeathers and they say it has been going on for about a year. Prior to the fraying and missing ones, some dark feathers had grown in rather than white. It does not seem to cause any problems for her, but certainly unusual to see.

:loveheart2: Includes "Jim" the bachelor of the Frazer Point nest.

IWS Nest Cams-ID Chart, Feb, 2021

Jim had another lady friend spend the night with him and in between some unwanted advances made by the sub adult female that Jim displayed his unpleasure to, there were two unwanted visitors during the night. Gifs by JuliaO:

Skunk visit.

Barn owl visit.

Video by Janntonne:

Sub adult female following Jim to his nest twice on 4/11/21.

Circle of life. Just hate that this nest was not successful.

:eggthumb: Dr. Sharpe is reporting two chicks at Bald Canyon with his short video below and he is pretty sure there is one at Pinnacle Rock.

We have two young chicks at the Bald Canyon nest on San Clemente and I'm pretty sure there is a chick at the Pinnacle Rock nest on Catalina, but it was after sunset and too windy for me to get a good look.

:loveheart2: Parents and the two chicks.

And FYI pertaining to is this the female Chinook (A32) and the male Tuqan (K76) at Bald Canyon?

Institute for Wildlife Studies Mod • 3 hours ago • edited
The male hasn't been identified in several years and the female has not been identified this year (may have lost the wing markers, if she ever had any). She does have a silver band on her left leg, like the original female.

:7val: Sauces chick was banded on 5/4/21 by Dr. Sharpe and Nate and is female as the orange band 13/D was placed on the left leg. The federal band on the right leg is #829-00610. SC by Trish Rawlings:

She's a "biggie girl"!!

:1val: From Dr. Sharpe:

The Two Harbors female has been named Toyon.

Edit to add: Janntonne Mod 14 hours ago
TH ~ I found out this morning that this is the reason behind Toyon's (pronounced Toy-yon) name:

"Named after Toyon Bay Beach, also called Bannings Beach, a private beach located just north of Avalon on Catalina Island. It’s home to a youth camp called CIMI Toyon Bay that serves California’s 4th through 12th graders. The viewer's grandchildren have gone there several summers."

:10sum: Dina of the Sauces nest fledged today! A day or two ago, she flew up to land on top of the cam that looks down at her nest. She is currently on the nest to sleep for the night.
