:15heartbeat: Sometimes things pop in and out of my head, but this one took a long time to pop back in. I forgot to post that on the morning of 3/5, one of the eggs was found to be broken during the night on the nest of Cholyn and Chase @ Two Harbors. So, only 1 egg left to hatch here.

:15heartbeat: Very sad for Jak and Audacity @ the Sauces nest as their only egg is not expected to hatch. They continue to incubate. Always difficult to see with all their time and effort they have put in and next season is so far away. The egg was laid while the cam down, but Dr. Sharpe thought the latest it could hatch would be last Thursday, the 24th. Viewers wanted to give it till this past weekend, but both possible hatch dates have passed. Jak and Audacity did a wonderful job with their only chick Dina last season who fledged.

:15heartbeat: Nest info for Chase and Cholyn @Two Harbors this season:

2/23: First egg laid in evening. Expected hatch 4/2-4/3.

3/1: Second egg laid in evening. Expected hatch 4/6.

3/5: One egg broke overnight.

From Dr. Sharpe on the remaining egg:

Institute for Wildlife Studies Mod • 10 hours ago
If this is the first egg, then it likely is too late to hatch. If second egg, then I wouldn’t expect external pip until at least tomorrow

:15heartbeat: One of the 3 West End chicks went missing from the nest, probably yesterday morning. The cam for the West End nest has been on highlights all week and unfortunately only the overlook cam is available. That cam frequently shakes with the wind and makes viewing very difficult. Dr. Sharpe had said earlier this week he'd be going out to fix the nest cam, so hopefully he will find the chick alive and well on the ledge that you can see Thunder hoover down to in Janntonne's video:

"Thunder Hovers down the Side of the Rock at WE ~ Expore.org ~ 2022-04-15"

When I went through the available feed last night, I could view from 10 something in the morning and the following 12 hours. I never saw more than 2 chicks when ever you could even see the chicks. We'll have to watch for feeds from down there. This may or may not have a good outcome.

:CLAPS: The 3rd chick is back in the nest @ West End! Cam went to highlights during Dr. Sharpe's visit. Will post details when I see them.

:eggthumb: From Dr. Sharpe on the West End chick's rescue yesterday:

Institute for Wildlife Studies Mod • an hour ago
The West End chick had slid down the rock a couple feet and somehow managed to get into a crevice.

Chick in crevice.

Chick in crevice showing more of the rock formation leading up to the back side of the nest where it slid from.

Dr. Sharpe's reply when asked if the chick had fallen from a certain point on the nest.

Institute for Wildlife Studies Mod • 2 hours ago
No, it went off the back side of the nest. You can see the top of the camera in one of the photos.

So far, Dr. Sharpe has not indicated which chick it was. Most chatters think it was #3.

:15heartbeat: Jak and Audacity of the Sauces nest continue to incubate their egg that is way past the hatch date, although I did not see anyone on it for about 2 hours today which is not the norm for them.

:eggthumb: After reviewing the photos with comparisons it does look to be #3 at the West End Nest that slid down the rock from the nest and was in the crevice and later rescued. When I came in that day after the cam came up, one of the older chicks was crouched down and #3 was standing on the left of the nest raring to go, so I assumed the one crouching was scared still after being handled. Turns out it was just resting and #3 was probably wanting something to eat and eat it did over the next several meals. The first meal brought in after it's return was consumed only by #3! Out of my way siblings...this is all mine!!
