Update on the Cornell RTH juvies. L2 and L4 are doing well, so far. Unfortunately, L3 suffered a fractured coracoid and is being cared for and L1 was found deceased a few days ago, probably a building strike. Fly free, L1. :tissue:

Posted today on The Cornell Lab fb page…

On the night of July 31, a young Red-tailed Hawk was found on the ground near Cornell University’s East Avenue near Klarman Hall. The bird was unable to fly, and it was quickly shuttled to the Janet L. Swanson Wildlife Hospital for treatment. The following morning, the fledgling was identified as L4 by local birders on the ground.

Upon initial evaluation, L4 is doing well and seems alert, stable, and standing without issues. A further diagnosis is needed to determine if L4 suffered any injuries that will need further treatment or rehabilitation. We will be sure to update the community on L4’s condition as soon as we know more.

Throughout the history of the Cornell Hawks nest, the staff at the Janet L. Swanson Wildlife Hospital has provided invaluable support and care for the fledglings. We are immensely grateful for their dedicated team for immediately attending to L4, and for continuing to support the recovery and rehabilitation of fledgling L3 after suffering a shoulder injury in late July.

We’ll continue to post updates on this page as we learn more about L4’s condition.

Angel ~ Red-Tailed Hawk...Location - Tennessee
Angel is a very rare Leucistic Red-Tailed Hawk. 2 years ago, Angel & Mohawk (no longer around) raised 2 chicks and they fledged successfully. Last year Angel chose a new mate and he was still a subadult. Since the new male was not fully mature, they did not have eggs last year. This year he has fully matured and their bond seems strong. New male hawk has been named Tom.

Many thanks to Window of Wildlife for this beautiful cam!! So exciting to be able to watch them.
I think Window of Wildlife also have a Osprey cam...

:egg8:Beth, I posted this same info on Angel's nest back on 2/20/23 in Breaking News, but nobody seemed interested, so I have been following privately and will continue to do so, but glad you brought it here. This is a link for the other cam that has IR and is located behind the tree and while the view is not as good you can see the nest during the night.

Long Range PTZ cam with IR for Angel and Tom's nest.
