SE27 fledges to camera branch, then takes off,
can be seen flying strongly in last frames of video with currawong following.

From FB Sydney Sea Eagle Cam Rohan Geddes 10 h ago An exciting afternoon. Lots of pics of one of the juvys, which decided to hang around just outside the woodland and alongside the outside the DC. The other (90% sure it wasn't the same bird) was only glimpsed earlier but only fleeting. See last two pics, apologies for the focus, it was a very quick opportunity between the trees. The good news is the flights were strong and confident, though they clearly need a bit of landing practise...preferably in a tree and not on the ground!   next photos

An update and the latest news SE27 was found on the roadside in a busy area of Sydney Olympic Park. We are very fortunate that the ranger who captured the juvenile was experienced in handling animals. They contacted me and the eaglet has been taken for veterinary care and assessment. We believe this is SE27 who may have become "lost" flying away from the wetlands and becoming confused. It is probably dehydrated but will receive all necessary care and assessment. We shall let you all know when we have any news. picture on the site adult presently sleeping at nest. Sorry, I do not have time for photos |

Judy Harrington · 11/24 more on her release As everyone knows now, SE27 was released near "home" on November 18. It was a joy to see her fly off strongly. Others will be posting more pictures of the day, but here are a few of mine. Setting the filming up was quite a procedure - and then we had to do several new takes. Annamaria Equizzi · 18h ago What a morning for Daisy! She was under siege for a couple of minutes, but she managed not to fall for the ravens' usual tricks - she did not move much from the nest bowl. However, they are clever and will be back. They will not fall for the leaves covering the eggs - I have seen them upsetting other eagles' nests and digging out soft material in the bowl. In total contrast to the cliffhanger, there was a visit from a jolly brigade of rainbow lorikeets. I could not figure out whether the egg I saw, earlier in the morning, to her left was broken (I have screen recorded various scenes but it's late at night for me now). later    |
