:clapegg: I see a peregrine on the bottom of the "S" where it tips up! The chest looks white as in an adult, but from this distance a juvies chest might look lighter than what it is.

:buzzybee: Gone now, so flew within last 5 minutes or so. Cam view remains on the building. Then oddly, when I refreshed the screen at 4:55, the falcon is there again. So, I guess it had been positioned just right to blend into the building with the afternoon sun previous or laid down or was an adult and flew and came back ...

:buzzybee: Just went back in and caught a bird flying in a severe steep, downward angle toward the right across the building. No longer see the falcon on the "S".

:buzzybee: The night time view is still the SunTrust building. No report as yet. Curious if any were able to return to the nest area or if a parent stopped by or is roosting there.

:15heartbeat: Yellow Girl hopefully is okay, but headed to Wildlife Center of Virginia tomorrow for further evaluation and treatment after colliding with a building. They are reporting she was taken to Wellesley Animal Hospital out of an abundance of caution today and they are reporting she is "feisty". Update on all 4 from VDWR:

"Fledgewatch Day 1: Four Chicks Have Fledged"

I am definately going down today to check on everybody. Dr. Ernesto, formally from the Wildlife Center of VA, is now at Wellesley, where the falcon went. I am sending and getting birds from them daily, so I will get an update on Yellow from Ernesto. Good that 3 of them are safe. All the new buildings around there make me nervous. Thanks again sgb for the fantastic shots yesterday!

SWINWK, thank you for posting the article about how juvies are doing. I looked last night and couldn't find anything. Sounds like they are doing quite well! :thankyou

Barb, I hope you get to go downtown to see everybody!

I just came back from an hour downtown. It was falcon siesta time! The female was on the S of the Suntrust buildling, West side, and the male was on the S on the Southside. One of the fledges was hanging off the edge and I could hear more up there, according to the DWR girl on the ground, all of them are up there. I'll try again tomorrow. I texted with Dr. Ernesto, yellow had some head trauma, so she went up to WCV.

Barb...I am thrilled that you got to go down for a little while today...and thanks for the coverage support. I was glued to the cam and it was hard to keep up.

...and thanks for the update on Yellow...I hope the head trauma isn't too serious and she can come back soon!!!

Parent on the "S"

Image

Parent leaving...I could only track the shadow...gave up trying to find the actual bird. There are also 2 birds in the blue circles...could be pigeons, could be crows...one could be a parent. I doubt one of the kids could make it that high yet. Definitely birds...I've watched them move..

Image

Swinwk...thanks for posting the update from last night.

Bird in red circle takes off. A few seconds later, the bird in blue circle follows (missed that pic)

Image

about a minute later, bird flies back up to top of building. (Missed that pic)

Again, I could be taking pictures of pigeons... :teehee:

Yes, I stayed under the building the whole time. I could see that fledge from the ground and she never moved. Funny, both parents were in exactly the same part of the S on both sides of the building standing guard. That was mom you circled. She is so Buffy she is easy to ID.

Thanks Barb. After reading the update, maybe that WAS one of the kids on top of the building!!! Shocker!!!

I know everyone's super busy, but I sure wish they could be out there again today. It sounds like they are flying great..but,they're still crazy kids.

Here's hoping Yellow can rejoin them soon.

:clapegg: for all th e updates. I do no t post here anymore but I do watch.

I am surprised they only do two day watch. We are out for 2-3 weeks. maybe becasue all of these juveniles are older.

hoping the one with head trauma is O.K. sometimes they just need a good rest. thanks obxbarb, for doing all you do for wildlife

Fantastic news. I checked the WCV website all day yesterday, knowing there would be an update (they're so good about that), but then had to leave!!!

I thought Yellow looked big in that picture!!! LOL

Did not have time to post this Friday morning, but somebody was eating. I can't tell ya if it was a juvie or a parent.

This happened a few minutes ago. Unfortunately, I was not recording the entire area, so missed some of the stuff in the upper right.

Parent (?) approaching from the left.

Image

Parent appeared to pass behind the building.

Image

Juvie (?) comes off

Image

Loops down..then back up.

Image

Image

Flies in front of all the satellite dishes

bird is flying left to right.

Image

Image

Bird looped around and is now heading right to left...

Image

What my recorder missed, but I saw was the second bird...can't remember which direction it was headed.

It dropped down in front of the Sun Trust sign (that we can see)...at first, I thought it had landed...but, nope. Continued moving right to left

Image

Circled, then continue left, out of cam view.

Image

A few seconds later, it (or bird #2 flew in from the left, circked, then exited to the left. I have those pics, but don't think I have time to post them.
