I had time this morning to go back through the stream. I caught a nest cam fly by at 6:48:36 this morning. Looks like a subadult. I slowed down the stream to .25 speed & looked like lots of chest streaks.

No clue if it's a female or male.

I'm really wondering where Sequoia went. I know they are checking Shasta for Avian flu. Maybe it contributed to her death. I would think Sequoia would stay somewhat on territory. Also surprising that another male hasn't shown up sooner. This would normally be a hot spot for peregrines. :egg16:

The female has no rings. The second falcon (male?) is flying.

Thanks for posting your thoughts on the peregrines, mwplay. I assumed it was Sequoia that was there at the nest when it was reported that Shasta died. :tissue: Maybe not. It would be a shame to go thru a nesting season without San Jose, but it would be even harder if the territory were up in the air when there were chicks in the nest. :girlsad3:

it is thought that this may be a male that has done 5 flybys already. none seem threatening. We shall see. even if young, a nesting can occur
the first flying was just after 6:06 this morning. talons were down and I thought it was going to try a copulation.
she may be trying to call him in

I know they are waiting for testing results on shasta as if he he ate what she did, Sequinoa could be deceased somewhere. they were just fortunate that Shasta was found .

Thanks for the videos, Terka! :10sum:

The same thing was happening just now. A falcon was on the nest, while a second falcon was doing fly-bys! :girlyes:

The young male and female copulated on top of box. When I get to computer I will get Photo. And yes, a one year old ca n be fertile. They say ideally 2 years bit , I did research and a few sites said, sexual maturity at one year of age.
sequoia, if he ate sane as Shasta , oould have expired. I think I posted that earlier.
But we will never know for sure
