He is a great provider and she loves to eat

Was just there 2 days ago, maybe 3 and have photo of nest exchange. Hate this but, main thing is, there is a male , he will hunt, she will have to do the heavy lifting ( so to speak) for awhile, unless this is an experienced male
Will look for my photo. Have to go to computer

my pictures just shows one coming in so wont post but one left eggs and one came in . that was april17. but I was just hom e and went to watch

this is not unusual, sad for us but at least a male is there and bringing food. He is staying at ledge . I have been through this so much at my sites and deMortel, that I know as long as prey is brought, things should be o.k. He may eventually incubate, each falcon different. we wil l wait and see

12:37pm . he is still there on ledge but did come back into other side of box and scrape and back to ledge. This scraping is normal

could not find Bridget on roof where she usually is. all things will change

have to leave but will check back

Newman (the egg daddy) was last seen yesterday mid-morning (April 18) taking his normal turn on the eggs. At 5:09 in the afternoon the new male appeared. Newman was not banded - the new male is banded. The new male is NOT the previous male (Whitman) who disappeared over the winter and was replaced by Newman. This is obvious because Whitman had a black band on his right leg - the new banded male's is silver. Have not been able to get band numbers yet.

The new male brought plucked food at 5:45 am, which Bridget took. He brought a fresh not-yet-killed northern flicker mid-morning which she did not take at that time. A little while later she left for 20 minutes, where she may have eaten some flicker. She returned and covered the eggs until Noon, when the banded male brought another plucked bird. Bridget left with it and did not return until almost 1:00. He stayed in the nest scraping and vocalizing, but did not cover the eggs. They were exposed for 55 minutes. Outside temperature about 52 degrees.

At about 12:55 he saw something in the sky that caused him to alarm call, then he took off.

I thought this recent as I had witnessed an exchange. May not be over, but if you look at my video, a few reports above this, you can see, he is staying with eggs and is courting, bringing prey.

I guess we will se how this plays out. Would not want 5 eggs to hatch, but all looks OK for now

I will hope for the best, as everybody else does. These birds do keep life exciting!

Bridget seems to be able to get him to go to the eggs, and he will stand over them, carefully placing his feet among them so as not to damage them. He will not sit on them. It's as if he is thinking she wants him to guard them, but he doesn't incubate. He brings food, bow and ee-chups, scrapes a LOT. I am beginning to think he doesn't know how to incubate. If it's his first time he is not slowly learning with first one egg, then two, etc. He is facing a large group of five eggs and may not know how to make that brood patch work. She has had to take several breaks off the eggs, once for almost an hour, several between 30 and 40 minutes.

We have been trying to get his band number but it is difficult in the nest box, and we haven't caught him on an outdoor camera yet. That said, it is Black / Green, and definitely 2*/A*. I don't think there is a second number on top and I am 80% sure the second letter on the bottom is P. So....

I had the same thing at some of my nest sites, I monitor DAvid. The one last year had 5 eggs when there was a new male.
and male did not make appearance till 4 days later. Female stayed true to eggs only leaving for about 15 min, briefly but times started to get longer. It took about a week for male to start incubating. long story short, all 5 eggs hatched
so I think we are o.k.
time will tell
