Sharing some news from Reading, PA. Two years ago, our dear Yellow Boy from Little Dad's first year with Mom, was lost to another male. I just learned that the new nesting male is Yellow Boy's son, which would make him Mom's and Little Dad's grandfalcon. Also he would be a brother or step brother to Niner here in Harrisburg. Not sure who his mother is.

A follow up to my post from last night. The new Reading male has the same parents as Niner here in Harrisburg. She is a year older than this male. Niner hatched in 2017, and this male in 2018. Their mother hatched on a bridge over the Susquehanna River in Wrightsville, PA.

:5val: Well I'm not sure if the process is starting as I mentioned above meaning when they hang about the nest and are a little lethargic in the immediate days before the egg is laid or if things are closer than that or if she is having a very bad GI issue day (has been smacking her top and lower beaks together several times). She left the nest and went to the stick and I came here and then heard a commotion between the 2 and went back in and he was in the nest and she still on the stick. The commotion sounded as if they mated. They talked and she came into the nest and a whole lot of bowing and gentle beak grabbing and holding till he escaped. Very soon I could hear him back and they were talking and he was on the ledge near the nest just in cam view with a food gift dangling from his beak. They talked more and soon he flew out with his gift. After several minutes, she flew up to the wall of the nest after some hesitation as if it would take a little extra oomph to get up there. Soon he's back with his gift dangling and stood outside the nest, then went just inside and dropped it to the floor. After awhile he brought it into the nest where we could see him from that cam and she turned around on the wall to face him. Then in a bit he flew out with it again. Not sure exactly what is going on, but it seems things are heating up here!

Hello, You have mentioned the falcon nest in Reading. Was the factory explosion that occurred yesterday anywhere near to Reading’s falcon nest?

:eggthumb: I think we have the 1st egg here. She was in labor and the last contraction was 23:40 or possibly 23:41! Am having difficulties with my LT and had to go out before seeing the egg. Will try to go back in now to see.

:loveheart: Right after I left could hear vocals. Went back in and nobody in the nest, but he was on the point and she soon arrived next to him. He took off and landed on the ledge near the stick. You could tell he was looking toward the egg, but never went in to the nest. He went up on the stick near the box and flew out. She was no longer on the point. I hear vocals and someone has arrived and is on the ledge on the other side of the stick.

:egg8: Heard more vocals and went back in and he was standing in the nest box, but not near the egg. She was outside. They were vocal for a bit, then she came in and went to the egg and they were vocal and he stayed awhile before flying out.
