Nice long feeding ended about five minutes ago. Looked like all four were fed. Couldn't tell anything about the fifth egg. It is somewhat warmer today. Up to 45 right now, and no rain. Windy, but it's coming from the north, so the scrape is well sheltered from the wind.

Just watched a nice long feeding. Niecey sure has come a long way caring for her kids. She was so gentle and made sure they all got some. couldn't see the other egg cause they were all around it. :loveheart2: This was at 3:45

:loveheart2:Niecey finished up a feeding a few moments ago. 85 has been preening on the point. Chicks obscured the egg from cam 2 view and too far away in cam 1 to see anything for sure.

:girlcrazy: I posted this on another site at 10:54 am, so deleted it there and brought it here to its proper place.

10:54 am Feed in progress, the chicks soft cries sound so sweet right now, but that will not last...enjoy while you can! 85 on the point.

Just watched a feeding that lasted about 15 minutes. All four were fed. Niecey was very careful to see that each little open beak got plenty. The chicks quickly went into a food coma.

:girlsad3: I am unable to get in to the cams here this morning and keep getting this message when I try:

I have had no problems with this whatsoever till now? It is not happening at any other sites I go to on the forum.

:loveheart2: Feed just finished up, but only 2 were interested, the others slept. One of the sleepers woke up near the end of the feed and poked its head up a little, but went back to sleep. And it looks as if Niecey and 85 will have a 5th chick later today as there is a hatch in progress. It was hard to see from cam 1 d/t the distance and cam 2 was no help this view. Maybe next time we will have a better view, but it seems when some of the other eggs starting hatching this season it went quick, so we may see a wet chick!!

I have only seen a video of the hatch in progress. This little chick will be MUCH smaller than the others, and hoping for the best here. Not sure if Niecey will be able to handle this.

:eggthumb: As long as there is food available, I think Niecey will be able to handle this as she always takes great care in trying to ensure each one gets bites. I have noticed she has called out more today and I imagine it was because she knew this 5th one was coming. 85 kinda ignored her wails earlier today while he was on the point trying to get some shut eye, he finally gave up and started preening. So I would say she does seem to be a little more "on edge" today. He's going to have to keep their pantry well stocked for sure! I hope the weather holds up here. The biggest problem will be #5 getting buried in the heap and she doesn't see...

When #4 hatched it was only in the mid 40s. Scrape is well protected from the wind unless it's blowing from the East.

Dr. Sharpe says BE chicks can die in 60 degree weather from hypothermia. That's dry weather. If the egg had hatched and out from under Niecey (she didn't notice it), the wet chick would perish and maybe even in the egg if the crack were large enough and enough time exposure. But fortunately, Niecey covered it up, although it took a little longer than I thought it would.
